AeroVision profile• Private, independent company located in Zwolle and
Naarden, The Netherlands;
• We motivate our clients to base their (spatial) information
needs on their own processes;
• We provide users with adequate advice on how to benefit
optimally from structured spatial information;
• Aerovision helps you to make smarter decisions by asking
yourself what is really needed to improve.
• Tamme van der Wal coordinated the FieldFact project (2004-2009).

The Farm as central entity(see next slide)
• The Farm (farmer) is positioned at a cross sectionof his value chain with a governance chain;
• ICT is crucial enabler to deal with on-farminformation management for optimising activities;
• Similar information is requested by the valuechain and the governance chain;
• ICT (and precision agriculture) helps farmers toovercome administrative burdens.

What is precision agriculture?
Technology
• Machine guidance - implement guidance;
• Time- and location specific activities / VRA;
• Integration of data, systems, knowledge.
Management style
• Total Quality Management: Plan-Do-Check-Act;
• Make smarter decisions;
• Systems thinking.
Transition instrument
• Stimulate co-innovation involving (all) stakeholders;
• Strengthen competitiveness + export opportunity for solution providers;
• “Greening” agriculture!

GNSS opportunities in EU agriculture
• Increasing Efficiency;
– “precision pays”;
• Wholefarm information management;
– Farm resource planning and performance monitoring;
• (im)prove compliance to regulations;
– EU support (!) and environmental directives;
– Food Law, GlobalGap, HACCP etc.

Conclusions• Precision Agriculture is an important instrument in
achieving a transition in agriculture. It is necessary tocreate a sustainable, viable economic sector that maintainsrural identity and landscape;
• Starting from on-farm processes - GNSS is just one datasource: Agriculture needs integrated solutions: GNSS -ICT - process management;
• EGNOS is one GNSS solution with specific targetedopportunities. Farmers get addicted to accuracy and wantmore when they can get it;
• Agriculture is a very interesting market to build GNSSHigh Precision applications for. Spillovers to many othersectors.
