Summer evokes different feelings and memories in
people’s hearts and minds, from commonly known summer at-
tributes like sea, sun, beach-volleyball with friends in the after-
noon and painting the town red at some open-air night-club, to
very unusual ones, for example a month of hitchhiking in the
Crimean mountains, without any sign of civilization, just you and the nature, or ex-
ploring the dense rainforest in South America, it doesn’t matter how you prefer
spending your vacation, summer is definitely the time of adventures, new revela-
tions or of re-discovery of the old ones.
If you say the word ‘summer’ to me, the first association that comes to
my mind at the moment is Paris. About two years ago I was lucky to see it in
its whole luxury and exquisiteness, and the best time for that is definitely sum-
mer. It was a European bus-tour around several countries. The inception of
this miraculous journey was Czech Republic, and it was already my second
visit to Prague, so I had an opportunity once again to eyeball one of the most
gorgeous cities in the world. Next stop was the Bavarian-to-the-core city of
Nurnberg in Germany, where you can know the world-famous Bavarian cui-
sine first hand.
By the way it conquered my heart too, and my stomach, of course. After
Nurnberg we travelled to a very quiet and cosy town of Luxemburg, which ap-
peared to be, in spite of all my misconceptions, also a very beautiful one.
Eventually, after spending a few hours there we headed for the actual target
of our trip, Paris. On arriving there we had a bus tour around the city-centre, and,
actually, it was good that we could sit because just when I saw the contours of the
real Notre-Dame de Paris, I nearly passed out. The next day in the morning we had
a walking tour where we could look more closely at this incredible cathedral and, of
course, a number of other places of great historical interest. One more remarkable
place is Versailles, it was unbelievable to imagine that centuries ago the greatest
kings of France stood at the same spot as you are.
This day we also visited Louvre and Montmartre. After that we had a
lift at the Eiffel tower and had the opportunity to admire this magnificent city
from the bird’s flight.
But still, the most memorable place in Paris for me is Disneyland. Every-
thing we see in Disney cartoons comes to real in this place, all these fairyland
streets, gardens and parks, together with fairytale creatures contribute to the impres-
sion that wonders do happen. On our way back home we had stops in different
small towns of Germany, Czech Republic and Poland. Incredible as it may seem,
but after Paris it all came as blank and plain.
To sum up, I would like to say that travelling not only broadens peo-
ple’s outlook, but also helps to shed light on some new sides of yours, new im-
pressions, feelings, that you’ve never had before. This is definitely one of the
means of achieving success for somebody who is in a constant search for them-
selves.

Summertime is the best period of a year. It always brings new emo-
tions and adventures. Once my friend said “every summer has a story” so here is his
Italian spicy story. Guys, my dear students, enjoy these 3 months to the full, thanks
for a very prolific year of hard work hope to see you soon!
A beautiful day of backpacking through Venice was coming to a close when
my buddy Mark and I decided it was time to head to the train station. Our plan was
to be in Florence by 9:00PM, grab some pizza, drink some wine, and then head to
our hostel. Unfortunately there weren't any trains heading directly to Florence, so
Mark asked at a help station how to get there.
"Well, where do we go Mark?" "Uh... Bologni or something.""We're
going to a town named after a meat?""Just check the train boards, it sounds
something like that and it leaves at 5:15."
Well lo' and behold, there it was, Bulloni! Except it was leaving at 5:10,
not 5:15, and we only had a couple minutes to make it! We ran to the train and
made it just in time, and there were even a few booths left available.
An hour or two later, the train conductor stopped by to see our tickets and
find out where we were going. "We're headed to Venice." Blank stare. "Venezia.".
"You're going the opposite direction.""Well we're going to Bulloni for a
connecting train."He stared at us like we were idiots. "I think you wanted Bologne.
Oops. By the time we got off the train and found one headed in the
proper direction, it was getting late and the number of trains was dwindling.
Around 10PM we found ourselves back in Venice. Around 2AM we pulled into
Bologne. And about 3AM, a short, portly Italian man entered our cabin, gave
us some creepy glances, and then commenced what can only be described as a
cacophony of noise sounding vaguely like a rabbit being sucked slowly through
a two inch hole. Two hours later, we took our first steps in Florence. We stayed
there for one day.
So this is how my friends made their way to an adventurous summer voca-
tion. That always puts smile on my face and I want to encourage you to pull off this
summer cause that’s 3 months without books and teachers, 92 days of total freedom,
2208 hours of complete and warm happiness 13 8480 minutes of satisfaction and
good weather and on balance 7948800 brightest seconds you can have this year. Get
a buzz out of this summer. Making memories changing life!

And make no mistake I was not in the league of its admirers despite the
fact that I have never been there. However, my curiosity eventually got a better
side of me and decided to give it a go. So, things panned out in the most sensation-
al way!
For starters, I loved every moment of it: Ephesus Archaeological Site,
Myra, Pmukkale, Cleopatra Pool and so on. Profound culture and heritage
hold sway in Turkey. I witnessed and became the part of the traditional mar-
riage ceremony and dancing (it took me a day to shake off my newly acquired
husband). I drank and tasted something that I could not imagine eating even
in my wildest dream. Take just one example: the goat’s horns. I guess now
you got my message))))
The customs that overwhelm this country abound. The origin of the dis-
tinctive flag of Turkey is the reflection on the pool of blood of the moon and the
star which helps to explain the blood-shed and conquests that Osman Empire had
to endure and propagate.
The only drawback that I have encountered was the distinctive Turk-
ish language which is disguised as the English one. In one restaurant I had to
talk to 5 waiters before I got the order I liked. It was a pervasive practice to
have English-Turkish conversations starting from the airport.
Thus, if you are still flirting with the idea of whether to go to Turkey or
not, do it! You are invited to wander and lose yourself in the beauty of this land.
You will be in for a treat!

The research conducted by Art Glenberg from Arizona University spells out
that your own conscience can be influenced by a number of simple exercises. Take
just one example, if during the conversation you are holding a cup of warm coffee or
tea you become more emotional and open. So, if you need your audience to favour
you, offer them some refreshments! Here are a number of tricks to aid you to gain a
better footing in life.
Goal 1: to look more confident The recipe: place yourself in an armchair with one hand on the arm of the
chair and the other on the back. Keep your legs crossed and hold an upright back.
Really, the more space you take, the more likely is that you will send a mes-
sage of confidence and poise. There was conducted a very simply experiment to vali-
date this theory. The various rank employees were seated in the room and a panel of
outsiders had to identify the hierarchy of this organisation. All observers in unison
selected the cleaner, who had an above-mentioned posture, as a General Manager!
Goal 2: to prevent a scandal The recipe: Nod your head as if you are agreeing with something.
Indeed, this is a very calming gesture that will pacify your opponent in no
time and will ease his/her frustration and impatience even if you are not going to give
any ground away.
Goal 3: brainstorming The recipe: Hold an edge of the table with only your thumb on top of it.
Make an effort as if you are going to lift it.
Such a gesture activates the part of your brain responsible for the creative
thinking and kick starts the generation of the ideas. Vice versa, if you press the table
downside, you automatically switch off your ingenuity.
Goal 4: to concentrate The recipe: Doodle. This simple exercise that is frowned upon in schools and
universities fosters attention spans and helps to digest the received information. Sci-
entists have proved that doodling betters your concentration on 30%.
Goal 5: to cope with a problem or the task The recipe: Make a few steps backwards
The experiment showed that people who were offered some test took a few
steps backwards and received much better results following this pattern. Scientists
believe that this action activates the brain as it urges it to see a full picture.
I guess that knowing this basic stuff you can afford to negotiate your fu-
ture and overcome any bumps on the road.

first and foremost is to take advantage of such generosity.

thing is not to let it go. Travelling will do you good too but preferably to

Commit yourself to creativity this summer. It is high time you wrote,
composed or painted something even if you have never had a fixation

a person you will have to care for the rest of your life!
Pisces (22 February – 22March)
You will kick start your summer with love frustrations and will end it
with a new crush. You will manage to feel a kaleidoscopic amount of
emotions just throughout these three months.
Aries (22 March – 22 April)
The best part of the summer will be spent in a fuss and rush. You will
have new meetings, acquaintances and many promises. On balance, you
will not have a single minute to spare.
