Dear Parents,
Our Mother’s Day Breakfast was a huge success yesterday with over 400 people attending. The atmosphere in the room was terrific as the Mum’s took the opportunity to enjoy a meal with their children and catch up with other families. A big thanks to all of the staff who were at school well before the sun came up to assist with the set-up, cooking and serving. It was a great effort and another example of our staff going over and above their required duties to offer wonderful opportunities to our families. Thanks also to all of the Dads who came along and helped out it was very much appreciated. I must make a special mention of Kathryn Pepper who coordinated the whole event, she did a superb job and its success is a credit to her. I remind families that the Mother’s Day and Father’s Day Breakfast occasions are for Trinity students and their parents. Due to numbers we cannot accommodate siblings who do not attend Trinity. I apologise if there was some confusion around this.
Thanks to the Parents and Friends who have again coordinated the Mother’s Day Stall and the Mother’s Day Raffle. The raffle will be drawn at Friday’s assembly.
The students in Year 3 and Year 5 have been undertaking the Government Administered NAPLAN testing this week. Results will be made available to parents as soon as we obtain them. Usually it is around August.
Tomorrow our Grade Four students will be heading off to Sovereign Hill in Ballarat for their overnight Camp. It is a fantastic camp and learning opportunity for the children. Stephanie Barker, Rima Darwish, Leisa Finkelde, Sarah Hubbard, Liz Jones, Jaimilee Marsden, Emily Rogers, Ange Schinck and I are the staff attending camp. Thanks to the staff that are attending, it is a big effort to leave their own families for the night. Ange Schinck is the teacher in charge of the camp.
It is a very exciting time this week as we begin to move back into the Administration Building. We expect that we will be operational in the building by the end of next week. The new developments mean that there are some changes for parents to be aware of. I have listed the main changes below;
Part of the brief with the whole school refurbishment was to improve the security for our children. The unfortunate reality is most critical incidents within schools these days are lockdowns where someone who shouldn’t be here has come onto the site.

Trinity Catholic Primary School is committed to providing an education that develops the whole person.
We believe that the social, emotional, moral, spiritual and physical wellbeing of our students
is pivotal to student health, safety, learning and success.
In regards to the Administration Building we have changed the way adults enter the school. The fence and gate will be relocated this week from between Readman Hall and the Admin Building and to now between the corner of the Multi-Purpose Room (MPR) and the Hall. The new parent entrance (for those wanting to enter the MPR or the school once the gates are locked) will now be the door between the corner of the MPR and the Principal Office wall. Parents wanting to enter the school during school hours will need to register at the Office and get a swipe card to enter.
The corridor down the centre of the Admin Building is locked off and no longer an
entry and exit point. This is for the safety of the students. The students now have their own admin counter behind the foyer wall if they need to see Glenice and Romalie, thus is much safer as they do not have to enter the foyer of the school. If parents need to see the admin staff they can come into the foyer and then enter the school via the new parent entrance. This will take some getting used to but again I stress it is for student safety. Over the next school holiday period a covered walkway will be installed leading parents from the admin foyer to the new parent entrance.
A Sanctuary has been created at the end of the Multi-Purpose Room. This will be
where we now hold Class Masses. It has folding doors that can close off the Sanctuary when not in use.
A reminder that the Parents and Friends have organised a social night for parents at 7pm on Sunday the 2nd of July at Fountain Gate Cinema to see ‘The House’. This event is not for children. Instead it is an opportunity for parents to get together and enjoy a film to raise funds for the school. I encourage you to attend and you are most welcome to bring your own friends along to enjoy the evening. Please see the attached flyer within this newsletter for all details.
It has come to our attention that there are some parents that are inappropriately restraining (or not restraining) their children in their cars when leaving the school. As a parent of young children myself I can understand that sometimes it feels like an inconvenience to have to put your children in their safety seats, however, what I cannot understand is why you would not do it and as a result risk the health of your child. Please take the extra few minutes to ensure that your children are safe in the car.
I hope all Mums have a Very Happy Mother’s Day on Sunday.
Regards,
Simon Dell'Oro

Reflection
At the time of Jesus, many people were farmers and the sight of a shepherd and his sheep would have been a familiar one. Shepherds traditionally walked at the front of the flock to guide the sheep rather than driving them from behind. The sheep would recognise and know the shepherd’s voice and follow him with complete trust and confidence. At night, shepherds would gather their flock into small stockades or folds and lie across the entrance to prevent any sheep from wandering away or coming to harm from wild animals. In today’s Gospel, Jesus describes himself as a shepherd who leads his sheep (those who follow him) to rich pastures and the safety of his sheepfold. Possible discussion Whose voice do you know without being told who it is? How can you tell? Jesus speaks to us in many ways. How can we tell the voice of Jesus? Jesus says that he will always care for us. Let us pray that we may know and love Jesus more closely.

MOTHER’S DAY BREAKFAST Yesterday we celebrated Mother’s Day with a special Mother’s Day breakfast. Around 400 nanas, grandmothers, mums and children gathered in the school hall for the event. A BIG thank you to Simon, Matthew, Scott, Joe, Robert, Dave, Adam, Colin and the Trinity staff for their support in assisting with the cooking and serving of the breakfast. Thank you also to the Ferracane family for kindly donating a box of 180 eggs. The morning would not have been a success without all your support.
Wishing all those who carry out the role of a Mother a very special day
on Sunday.
For all that you do, we say a big THANK YOU.
Trinity’s Mother’s Day Breakfast Yesterday over 400 mothers, nanas, grandmothers, aunties and children gathered at school to celebrate Mother’s Day with a special breakfast. A great community atmosphere was present and for many families, it was an opportunity to meet for the first time. A BIG thank you to the following dads/grandads who generously gave up their time to assist with cooking the breakfast - Michael, Robert, Scott, Jo, Dave, Simon, Matt, Sean, Adam and Colin. Thank you also to the Trinity Staff and all the other parents that stayed back to clean up the hall. It was greatly appreciated. Thank you also to the Ferracane family who generously donated eggs.
Thank you also to the members of the Parents and Friends who volunteered their time to organise and run another successful Mother’s Day Stall. The work you do to support our
students is very much appreciated.
Mothers hold their children’s hands for a while but their hearts forever.
Wishing you a very special Mother’s Day.
From the Staff at Trinity.

Trinity has zero tolerance towards child abuse and is therefore committed to complying with the Victorian Child Safe Standards and Ministerial Order 870. All parents/Guardians wishing to help in the classroom, canteen or attend excursions MUST have completed the PARENT HELPER WORKSHOP and hold a current WORKING WITH CHILDREN CARD.
Further details are available from the school office. All parent/guardian helpers must sign in at the office before proceeding to the classrooms. Your current Working with Children card must be displayed at all times when working in the classrooms and attending excursions.
A reminder to all Parents/Carers, supervision by School Staff begins at 8.30am before school and after school only at the drop
off area until 3.30pm.

Thank you for your co-operation
TRINITY CAR PARK ETIQUETTE For greater safety and visibility, we are requesting that all
drivers reverse park into the marked bays.
Thank you all who use the pedestrian crossing area. You are demonstrating to your children correct road safety practices. Once children cross the pedestrian crossing into the parking area, they, for their safety, need to be placed into vehicles promptly. The car park is NOT a meeting area.
The lane around the edge of the car park (closest to the oval) are for vehicles waiting to pick children up from the Pick-up Zone ONLY.
The two parking bays closest to the office path are the PICK-UP ZONES. These are NO STANDING zones. I f your children are not ready to get into your car as you pull up to the pick-up zone, you must continue on and rejoin the end of the pick-up queue.
There is NO RIGHT TURN when exiting the car park. All vehicles must turn left for the safety of others and to maintain traffic flow.
THE GATES CLOSE AT 9.00am AND RE-OPEN AT 3.00pm. Occasionally they might re-open slightly later due to school activities.
Thank you for your patience and consideration of others.

Next P&F Meeting Monday 5th June 2017
MOST GRACIOUS HEAVENLY FATHER, We thank You for our mothers to whom You have entrusted the care of every precious human life from its very beginning in the womb. You have given to woman the capacity of participating with You in the creation of new life. Grant that every woman may come to understand the full meaning of that blessing, which gives her an unlimited capacity for selfless love for every child she may be privileged to bear, and for all Your children. Watch over every mother who is with child, strengthen her faith in Your fatherly care and love for her and for her unborn baby. Give her courage in times of fear or pain, understanding in times of uncertainty and doubt, and hope in times of trouble. Grant her joy in the birth of her child. To mothers You have given the great privilege and responsi-bility of being a child’s first teacher and spiritual guide. Grant that all mothers may worthily foster the faith of their children, following the example of Mary, Elizabeth, and other holy wom-en who follow Christ. Help mothers to grow daily in knowledge and understanding of Your Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, and grant them the wisdom to impart this knowledge faithfully to their children, and to all who depend upon them.
