Parents and guardians of Children of Military and Department

of Defense civilians need to turn in the completed cards to the school on 08SEP10.

Blue Star Card Activities for Spouses of Deployed Soldiers

Join your Blue Star Card friends on an amazing adventure through the islands of Polynesia to celebrate another month of deployment complete on Thurs, 23 Sep, from 1600-2130 at the Hale Koa Hotel’s Luau! Enjoy the splendor and spectacle of ancient traditions while participating in cultural demonstrations from around the Pacific. There will also be live Hawaiian music and an authentic imu ceremony. You will enjoy a bountiful feast that infuses both authentic Hawaiian and local favorites. This will be followed by the spectacular luau show hosted by Glen Medeiros.

The Hale Koa Hotel is offering Blue Star Card holders a special rate for this show. Adult (18 & older) ticket prices are only $30 and all children (17 & younger) are FREE courtesy of the Town Center of Mililani and the Blue Star Card program! Schofield Barracks Prayer Group for Deployed Soldiers

Prayer Group Meets:

Every Tuesday, 11:30am

at Schofield Barracks Main Post Chapel

And Every Wednesday, 8:00am

Prayer Group reads the name of every deployed Soldier from Schofield Barracks and Wheeler

Army Air Field and prays for their safe return. Anyone is welcome to attend and join in the

prayer or to add a Soldiers name to the prayer list.

Right Arm Night - It‟s Right Arm Night again! If you missed Texas Hold‟em at the Ft. Shafter

Right Arm Night, have no fear! We are bringing Game Night to Schofield on 10 Sep. Join us for Texas Hold„em, Horseshoes, Corn Hole, Ladder Ball, and Ping Pong. Texas Hold‟em will begin at 1700. Outdoor Recreation Adventure Hike III - Enjoy a nice relaxing hike around the island with

Outdoor Recreation on 12 Sep from 0700-1200. Check out the peaceful mountain scene without all the traffic hassles while moving at your own pace. The cost is just $10 and round-trip transportation to and from Schofield Barracks is available. For more information, please call 655-0143.

Operation Rising Star Family and MWR are giv-ing you the opportunity to shine! Contestants must be Active Duty, National Guard or Reserve from any branch of Service, or a Family member eighteen years or older with a valid military ID card. Contestants must compete as a vocalist. Other talents (musician, comedian, dancer, etc.) do not qualify for this competition. The installation winner will receive $500 and be eligible to move on to the Army-wide finals! Save the dates: 3 Sep (only audition), 10 & 17 (come and watch). All performances will start at 1900 at the Tropics Recreation Center. Applications can be downloaded at or picked up from Tropics. For more information, call 655-5697.

Theatre Thursday at SGT Yano Library - Learn the basics of stage acting in our ongoing theatre program for ages 12 and up. Meetings will be held the first and third Thursdays of the month from 1600-1730. Learn stage presence, acting skills, improvisation techniques and the

various types of theatre.

Outdoor Recreation Stand Up Paddleboard - Have the guts to learn something new? Already love this sport? Take a stand up paddle board lesson on 19 Sep from 0630-1130. This is the latest craze. We can help you with equipment

Father Daughter Ball - Our 4th Annual Father Daughter Ball will be 6 Nov at the Nehelani 1730-2100.

Tickets go on sale on 15 Sep and are $40 per father-daughter pair and $15 for each additional daughter.

Dance Classes at Wheeler ASYMCA - “Simply Ballroom” taught by Chris Casely will continue in Aug. We will offer classes for children ages 6-18 on the second and fourth Fridays of the month (10 & 24 Sep) from 1600-1700. Classes for service members and spouses will also be offered on the second and fourth Satur-days of the month (11 & 25 Sep) from 1000-1100. The classes cover the basic technique and patterns in the American style of ballroom dance and are $10 per class, per person and participants are not required to have a partner. Please do not wear slippers.

Parent Participation Preschool - This program is for children ages 3-4, and is designed to help your pre-school child make a smooth transition into the structure of kindergarten with you right by his/her side. There are still limited slots available so please call 624-5645 to register. The cost is $30 a month and preschool dates are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 0900-1100.
