This past weekend we were privileged to host a visit by our friends from the Blue Sky Wings from North Bay. Chapter Director Roger & Denise Mallete led a group of five bikes on Saturday, Aug. 23 and they joined us at our Chapter BBQ at Donnie & Elaine Collins’ home in Centreville. A great time was had by all.

The group then joined us for breakfast at the Northway on Sunday where Roger promoted the North Bay Col-our Run, an annual and very successful event. Several of our members are planning to attend.

Following the gathering, our merry band of riders es-corted them to Bancroft where we separated at Tim-mies, and they continued home to North Bay.

Our group then continued our ride passing through Denbigh, and then riding the curvaceous Matawachan Road to Calabogie, then on to Napanee where some stopped for Supper and others continued home. This rider clocked 518 Km.

The Older CrowdA distraught senior cizen phoned her doctor's office. 'Is it true,' she wanted to know, 'that the medicaon that you pre-scribed has to be taken for the rest of my life?'

'Yes, I'm afraid so,' the doctor told her. There was a moment of silence before the senior lady replied, “I'm wondering, then, just how serious is my condion because this prescripon is marked 'NO REFILLS'....”

An older gentleman was on the operang table awaing surgery and he insisted that his son,

a renowned surgeon, perform the operaon. As he was about to get the anaesthesia, he asked to speak to his son.

'Yes, Dad, what is it? '

'Don't be nervous, son; just do your best and remember, if it doesn't go well, if something happens to me, your mother is going to come and live with you and your wife for the rest of her life.

Hello all, things have been busy this summer but work is still continuing on the 401. Apparently there is 8000 ton of asphalt still to be put down before the job is completed and it is supposed to be done at night.

On our Hwy 15 job, pulverizing begins this week and the new asphalt will go down shortly. But as we all know, things are always subject to change.

We have been successful in bids in the Belleville area ie: Bronk Rd rehabilitation (unsure as to when this job begins) and just waiting to hear if we were successful in the bid for the Front St rehabilitation project.

Be safe in your travels and hopefully Kelly and I will see you at the upcoming BBQ at Donnie & Elaine's or on the Vermont trip.

I t seems impossible that it is the end of August - didn’t we just start the riding season??? Let’s hope September gives us some nice riding days.So good to see Doris Hagerman and Terry Brinklow, both recuperating nicely and getting better every day.

Congratulations to Les & Wendy McGeachy on the birth of a new granddaughter , Winnifred, and a new grandson, Jack.A big thank you to Elaine & Donnie Collins for hosting a very successful BBQ. A good time was had by all including our guests from North Bay, (CH ON-N). Two things we all do well are cook & eat!Next is our weekend trip to Waterbury, Vermont, leaving early Friday morning from the Flying J in Napanee. This should prove to be a good time. Donnie has done a lot of work arranging rides and shopping stops. We’re looking forward to a good time with goodfriends. Here’s a recipe for those cooler days ahead. Add a salad and voila, supper is ready!

Perhaps one of my favorite touring areas is central Pennsylvania. Much of the topography is Appalachian, and all the minor roads sll follow the river valleys and mountain ris where the early selers first laid down the wagon trails, many of which followed those established by the naves many centuries ago. The road from

Forksville to Williamsport is one of these, and it hugs the le bank ofLoyalsock creek for about forty miles ll we break out of the hills into the broadening valley of the Susquehanna Riv-er. We introduce Wayne and Lois to one of our long list of favorite restaurants for breakfast, then climb the long hill up the mountain south of "Billtown" for the obligatory stop at the observaon park from which we can see for miles up and down the river. Our goal for the day is Bedford, where we plan to hang out for a few days and do some local touring, before heading down to the West Virginia State rally at Harpers Ferry.

Picking roads more or less at random we wind up hill and down, town to town through farmland and forest can-yons for most of the aernoon. Passing near one of the many cavern aracons we decide to pass this me. If you want to see caves Virginia is a beer choice, Kentucky beer yet.

The temperature makes our arrival at our motel in Bedford a welcome relief, and we all hit the showers before seng out on a tour of on of the neatest areas in the U.S. There is a lot of History in this area, including a "George Washington Slept Here" and one can spend several days just geng to know what there is to see.

However, it has been a long day, our third on the road, and the first priority is Laundromat. This takes a while and while Lois and Doris are operang the high-tech equipment inside Wayne and I spend some me working the 2-meter radios on our bikes, contacng a number of local radio amateurs who seldom hear Canadians on that frequen-cy. Our plans for an evening ride are cancelled by one of those spectacular lectric storms which can be seen only in warmer climates; almost two hours of fantasc high altude lightning with earth-shaking thunder. At last the laundry is done and we head back to the motel, just in me to get thoroughly drenched by the long overdue rain. Suddenly we find that the day has been longer than we realized, and aer watching the rain for a while we all turn in. The storm should reduce the humidity tomorrow, as well as wash the bugs off Wayne's bike.

Wingin’ It by Bob Hagerman

Lawyers

One afternoon at the bank, in a long line of people waiting for a bank teller, one guy suddenly started massaging the back of the person in front of him. Surprised, the man in front turned and snarled, "Just what the hell do you think you're doing?"

"Well," said the guy. "You see, I'm a chiropractor and I could see that you were tense, so I just had to massage your back. Sometimes I just can't help practicing my art."

"That's the stupidest thing I have ever heard!" the guy replied. "I'm a lawyer. Do you see me screwing the guy in front of me?"
