Golf Day FundraiserA charity golf day is a straightforward event to put on for a group of friends or a chance for your workplace to entertain clients or suppliers How to get started?
• Approach your local golf course for their support, many will have a special charity rate, catering packages and offer support in the lead up and on the day.
• The days programme generally begins with a late morning registration and refreshments, followed by a briefing and shot gun start. The length of game itself will depend on the number of teams taking part, estimate a realistic finish time for refreshments, a prize giving and a chance for any final fundraising elements e.g. Live or Silent Auctions.
• Teams of four are best but this is flexible and the more teams the better. There are a few different ways you can score the day, Ambrose, Scramble and Alternate Shot are the most popular formats.
• Child Cancer Foundation has a set of editable resources available to use for your event including invitations, scorecards, a poster and more.
Fundraising ideas
• The registration fee – add a few $ to what the course is charging for the day. Make sure your ticket/team price includes budget for food and drinks.
• Sponsorship - Reach out to businesses and encourage them to sponsor a hole in exchange for branding opportunities in the lead up and on the day, or put together a raffle or a silent auction with items donated from local businesses.
• Drinks - Get a golf cart and whip around the course during the day keeping everyone refreshed with ice cold beverages.
• Games – a hole in one competition, best dressed or a 100 square grid. Talk to us about how these can be turned into fundraisers.
• Utilise the club’s pro golfer - have a pro take a shot for a team donation.
