Favorite Season…

“Let Me Introduce Myself…”

I have been a nurse for 15 years and have taught Health Science for 5 years at EHS.

I was born on April 2nd to James and Joan Dolan. I am the older of 2 children. I have a

younger brother, Timothy, who teaches at Appy. State in Boone, NC.

Hobbies…

Reading a good bookWatching an old movie (I love black and white)Grey’s AnatomySwimmingVacationing with Family

My two nieces…

My Family…

What was I like as a little girl?

I loved to play “nurse”! I wore my aunt’s little white hats and played with the empty syringes. I also wanted to be a “Mommy”!

Elementary School

I went to Kindergarten at Love Chapel in Erwin, TN. Then my family moved and I went to Rock Creek Elementary from 1st grade until 6th grade.

My family right before school started in my 7th grade year to Elizabethton and I went to TA Dugger Junior High. I loved Jr. High and found myself loving the class “Typing”. This love would grow to play an important role in my left later on.

I loved going to TA Dugger Jr. High. I made many good friends and my best friend was made in the 7th grade and she is still my best friend today!

I loved typing and HATED Home Economics. I still cannot sew! I can sew on a button or mend a hole!

Jr. High years:

High School Years

I began my high school career at EHS in 1981. I loved the sciences! My favorite classes were French I-IV, Anatomy, and Human Physiology. Typing was a fun class for me and it came easy for me to learn.

The love of French, Anatomy, and Typing would play major roles in my future!

High School years…

College Years…

Graduation… What to do next?

I really wanted to be a “beach bum”… That did not make my family happy!

I did finally decide on becoming a Medical Assistant and went to school just across the street from EHS. Typing and Anatomy became very important in that major.

1987 Graduated from ETSU with an Associate Degree in Medical Office Assisting.

First Real Job…

1987-I worked as a Medical Office Assistant for a Podiatrist. I was the transcriptionist part-time and was the “Party-Person” at McDonald’s.

I was offered a job at JCMC as a transcriptionist in the X-ray department in 1988. I did that until 1991 and then I went to American Samoa for 9 months.

American Samoa

Paradise!

I taught ESL from August 1991 until June 1992. Back in the USA and back to School!

Graduation, Marriage, and Nursing

1997 ~ I graduated from ETSU College of Nursing in May and then I got married in October of 1997. Happy, happy days!I had worked as a Transcriptionist, CNA, PCP, and Critical Care Tech. at JCMC during Nursing School. When I graduated I worked at JCMC on several different floors in several different roles.

Motherhood and Nursing

I loved working at JCMC and was a nite-shift nurse. I loved night shift! I am a “nite-owl” by nature. I hate mornings!

On February 10, 2000, Matt and I were blessed with a beautiful boy named Benjamin Frazier Hardin. (I have a ‘bonus son’ Levi Hardin-he was in the package with Matt when we married).I didn’t like to leave Benjamin so I worked week-ends for a while but that still wasn’t great so…

Benjamin…then

And now…

Motherhood and Homemaker

I stayed home with “Boo” from around 16 months until he was 3.He wanted to go to “school” like ‘brother’, so he went to Pre-school and I went to work part-time as a Remicade Infusion Nurse for Gastrointestinal Associates of NE Tennessee. This was great while Benjamin was in pre-school.

Supper at the Table…

When Benjamin went to Elementary school, I went back to JCMC and worked nite shift part-time.

Benjamin began to question why he was having ‘carpet pic-nics’ with his Dad… I began to look for a different job.

I took a job at EHS teaching Health Science… I love being on Benjamin’s schedule and I love teaching.

So Now What?
