Gorslas Carnival offeringfabulous fun for everyone
SHAKE OFF the post-holidayblues with a fabulous familyday at Gorslas Carnival thisSaturday, September 6.The final arrangements have
been made and everything isnow in place to ensure that theday will be a fantastic successat Gorslas Welfare Park.With live music, games and
stalls galore, as well as themuch-anticipated parade, thecarnival is sure to offer a bril-liant time to everyone who at-tends.
The fun begins officially at6pm on Friday, September5 with a disco, Pedal Power,which is open to all primary-school children.Saturday’s celebrations will
begin at 12.30pm when thosetaking part in the parade willassemble at Gwernllwyn for a1pm start.Led by Ammanford Town
Band, the procession willmake its way along CrossHands Road towards GorslasSquare where it will turn on to
Church Road before arrivingat Gorslas Industrial Estate.The carnival will get into full
swing when the fun and gamesbegin at the Welfare Park.There visitors will find the
marquee packed with stallsselling everything from deli-cious cakes to tasty vegetablesgrown at the local school.Gorslas Parent Teacher As-
sociation will be there — anddo not forget to try your handat the game stalls, which willinclude guessing the cost of
the hamper and a version ofPlay Your Cards Right.The marquee will be the
place to be for entertainmenttoo.There will be live music from
bilingual band Baldande, acookery demonstration fromLisa Fearn of Carmarthen, re-mote-control cars and brilliantfamily fun from entertainerCrazy Clayton.The outside attractions will
include a bouncy castle, rugbyand football competitions, abucking bronco and a demon-stration by CarmarthenshireGymnastics Club.Ellis Davies, chairman of
Gorslas Welfare Associationwhich organises the event,
said: “Last year was the firstprocession of carnival floatsin the village for more than 50years and everyone thorough-ly enjoyed the day.“This year’s carnival after-
noon promises to be excitingfor everyone.”Donations for the cake stall
are very much appreciated.Anyonewho is able tomake a
donation is asked to call IreneJones on 01269 844948 or bringcakes to the marquee at theWelfare Park between 10amand noon on Saturday.Volunteers who are able
