Call to Worship Let us worship God, our light and our salvation. The Lord is the stronghold of our lives. We desire to live in God’s house and to seek God in his holy temple. We have come with shouts of joy, to sing and to make music to the Lord. Let us worship God in spirit and in truth. Teach us your ways and make straight our paths in this hour of worship and always. —based on Psalm 27; John 4:23
Passing of the Peace (Congregation greets one another in the name of the Lord) Minister: The Peace of the Lord be always with you People: And also with you
Prayer of Confession We live in a broken and hurting world, Compassionate God. Come and restore us, Reconciling God. Greed, hate, power, jealousy, pride and anger are only a few of the behaviors that separate us from each other. Come and renew us, Loving God. We nurse old wounds, we refuse to consider a different point of view, we are afraid of those we don’t know, we act as if we have the best and only way. Come and heal us, Merciful God. We succumb to the idea that things will never change, that situations are hopeless, that conflicts will never cease, that relationships will remain broken. But the good news is that God has the last word in our brokenness and that word is Jesus. So, come, Lord Jesus, with your saving love and grace. Come to save us from our sin. Come to save us from ourselves. Come Lord Jesus to restore and mend broken lives, broken families, broken communities, and broken churches. Amen.
Words of Assurance The good news is this – Jesus came into the world to save us – from isolation, from pointless love and lust for things of dust, from empty hopeless lives. God in Christ forgives our sins, give us new life and prepares us for eternal life. Prepare us to see the face of God which we beheld in Jesus and to see the image of God that remains in each person we meet. Amen

Call to Worship Rev. Randall Haase God searches us and knows us, calling us out of the darkness. We enter God’s house, yearning to see God’s presence and walk in Christ’s light. God hems us in, behind and before, with knowledge too wonderful for words. We come now to worship, yearning to know and to be known. Come, enter God’s house, the gate of heaven. How awesome is God, who comes to us now!
Hymn of Praise Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing Hymn 400
Opening Prayer (Genesis 28, Psalm 139) O Lord, you have searched us and known us for all of our lives. We thank you for
your constant presence. Still, we come to you now, asking that you light our way
and guide our paths. Descend to us and bless us with knowledge of your presence.
Raise our thoughts to heavenly heights and grant us your wisdom and your grace.
Hold us fast in this time of worship, that we may feel your comfort and discern
your guidance. We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Prayer of Confession (Genesis 28, Psalm 139) Eternal God, you have searched us and known us. You know when we fall short
and when we rise to your calling. You discern our thoughts, whether they be good
or ill. Remind us that we cannot hide from you, and we need not try. Forgive us
and love us into righteousness. Lay your hand upon us, that we may love you and
your creation more perfectly each day. Raise us to an alternative life through your
grace and mercy, that our thoughts may ascend to heaven and our actions may
descend to this earth with love and justice.
Pardon
