• Point guard, shooting guard, small forward, power forward, and center

Basic Rules • Team- 2 teams of 5 players • Winner- team who scores the most points wins • Time- 4-8 or 12 minute quarters or 2-20 minute halves • Start game- with a jump ball from the center circle• Offense- may dribble pass or shoot the ball • Defense- guard man to man • Foul- (such as blocking, charging, holding) awarded possession out

of bounds or free throws ( In act of shooting or after 6 team fouls)• Turnover- any loss of the ball without a shot being taken( such as

carrying, double dribble, traveling, walking, pass out of bounds) awarded possession out of bounds

• Violation- change in possession • A player may take up to 2 steps before having to dribble, pass, or

shoot

Basic Rules cont.

• Carrying- palming the ball• Double Dribble- dribble the ball with both hands • Traveling- moving taking too many steps with the ball • 3 seconds- offensive player can remain in the lane • 5 seconds- offensive team has up to get the ball in bounds and

or pass the ball once they are guarded closely • 10 seconds offensive team has to get the ball across half court • Charge- offensive player running into a defensive player • Blocking- defensive player moves in front of an offensive player

without his feet being set• Boundaries- stand anywhere within the sidelines and end lines • Ball hits line is out of bounds

Scoring

• Free throw= 1 point

• Inside 3 point line= 2 points

• Beyond 3 point line= 3 points

Unsportsmanlike Conduct

Automatic 1 point for other team
