First Lego League (FLL) is a program to get children excited about science and technology. FLL uses challenges based on real world scientific problems to encourage children in research, problem solving, and engineering. The program promotes core values, which emphasizes friendly sportsmanship, learning, and community involvement. The challenge has two parts. The project and the Robot Games. Working in teams they will build a robot to carry out pre-programmed missions using Lego Mindstroms. They will also analyze, research, and invent a solution to a real world problem. The Robot games will be at the Salt Lake Community College on Saturday, January 11, 2014. This will be a tournament type of event that will have referees and judges score the robot game and team presentation of their real world problem. I will be looking for students that fit the following criteria and can commit to the following: Be a team player Be in grades 4-6 Attend weekly meetings and home research of about 2 hours a week.
