This is how one boy remembers life in rural Somerset during World War
Two.
Syd Durston grew up in Somerset, and then worked as a professional boxer
and PE teacher before returning to his childhood home. There he focused on
working the land and building. He was always making things – doors,
furniture – and in 1993 he began to paint in watercolour. Syd is now a
professional artist, and this collection of his paintings has been exhibited all
over the South West in places such as The Corinium Museum in Cirencester
and the Holburne Museum of Art, Bath. Syd lives in Bridgwater.
