■ GuardianshipAn accident or a sudden serious illness is not a desirable event. But in case these are the case and we are no longer able to care for ourselves, who will? Close relatives, such as parents, children, spouses or life companions cannot – as is often assumed – automatically intervene and undertake the burden. A alternative to being given into the care of a court-appointed carer, autho-rised guardianship and, as necessary, care allowance, have been created. In order to prevent being given into the care of a court-appointed carer, the creation of a precautionary authority and, if necessary, a care allowance is the alternative. Consul-tation on guardianship and the notarised signature for giving authority can be done through the Guardianship Authority.Social Welfare Office, Guardianship AuthorityLingnerallee 3 (South entry)01069 DresdenPhone .................................. 4 88 94 70Office hours: Tuesday, Thursday 8 a.m. to 12 noonand 2 to 6 p.m.
