We have some students who are wearing gum boots to school which does work well

for puddles and mud! Could I please remind parents that a pair of runners needs to be

sent along for P.E. as gum boots are awkward in the stadium and very slippery. Your

child’s safety is very important to us.

Many of the students in the ELC are bringing along their slippers for inside time which

is a great idea in the cold weather.

We need to continue with the change of clothes for our footy and soccer players, the

muddy oval is treacherous and it seems highly amusing to get as muddy as possible.

We are not keen to phone parents to bring along a change as all families have

extremely busy days!

Our Run to Gallipoli project has won the schools innovation award from the

Department of Veterans affairs for the ANZAC Day events. Senator Michael Ronaldson

(minister for veteran’s affairs) will be visiting our school in August to recognise our

efforts and present our award. I will advertise more information once we receive it so

that this presentation can be attended by parents if they are willing to be part of it! We

will also notify our local RSL to come along.

Congratulations to all staff and students on this enormous achievement.

We are still seeking names for the After School care program for 2016. Numbers are

critical to identify the demand so please phone and confirm. Letters have gone to our

Kinder families to gauge their needs. If you have yet to enrol your child for prep 2016

please do so as soon as possible. Numbers go into the department in early September

and these numbers determine our funding for the school year.

THEATRE WORKSHOPS COME TO HADDON!

Luke Kerridge, a teaching artist from Monkey Baa Theatre Company, visited Haddon Primary today and yesterday to work with our grades 3-6 students.

Students were challenged with warm-ups, which saw their minds thinking one thing and their bodies doing another! They pretended to be sculptors and manipulated their partners body and facial expressions based on scenarios.

Students were given insight into characters within the book, ‘I am Jack.’ They stepped into different characters shoes and explored their emotions. Students even created a photograph of themselves pretending to be characters from the text!

Furthermore, students were given insight to behind the scenes of stage performances. They were shown set photos and discussed different roles of designers, directors etc.

‘I am Jack,’ is a one man show coming to Her Majesties Theatre in a few weeks time and the book is definitely a ‘must read’ for grades 3-6 students as it deals with themes such as bullying.

A huge thank you to Luke and Her Majesties Theater for offering such a fantastic workshop enjoyed by all!

Haddon Primary School Can Drive

Junior School Council have been collecting ideas from classes and holding a can drive has proved popular.

If any families have canned or tinned food that they would like to donate we’d greatly appreciate it if you could send all cans

along with your child/ren to the office where a collection box can be found.

We will be collecting cans from the 1st of August until the 31st of August. At the end of the month, we will pass these on to

United Care. United Care will offer these cans to people who are less fortunate.

Cans may include vegetables, fruit and even dog food. Please do not donate frozen food, homemade food or home-canned

items, or food in glass jars. In keeping with good food-handling and food-safety procedures, food that is opened, damaged,

out of date or does not have the official ingredients included will be discarded by the food bank in the sorting process.

Please help us to support this cause and donate a can today!

Thank you.

After School Care Term 4, we are hoping to offer After School Care at the school. This will be a partnership with the

Golden Plains Shire. It will be from 3.30 – until 5.30, 5 days a week. There is a limit to 7 children per

session as it takes the form of “In venue family day care” and as such is limited.

Please phone quickly to secure a place.

To register your children please phone: 52207230

For additional information phone Cheryl Jenkins on : 52207205

Or email on [email protected] You can nominate the days that you wish to have the service.

After School Care 2016

If you require after School Care in 2016 could you please register at the office which nights you require

and how many children.

Demand may exceed our proposed In Venue Family Day Care program as there is a limit to 7 children. To

offer After School Care we need 12-15 children per session to make it financially sustainable. Planning

and registration can take time so we need this information as soon as possible.

Phone Lisa: 5342 4487 to register.

FINE A FASHION CRIME!

Haddon Primary School students will endeavor to raise money for genetic research on the 7th of August, 2015.

Students will be encouraged to dress in as much denim as they possibly can! We want to see double denim, triple or even quadruple denim!

This is considered a 'fashion crime,' therefore we will be asking students make a gold coin donation on the day, in support of genetic research.

We will also encourage students to participate in other fashion crimes (especially those that don't currently own a pair of jeans) such as socks with sandals, a clash of colours, runners with jeans or wearing hats backwards!

Parents and students are encouraged to check out our Haddon Primary School page and click ‘Updates’ for further information:
