The four legs in question, or rather values, are Visual Design, Dynamic Ergonomics, the Environment and Quality. Without these, there is no HÅG chair!

Visual Design Visual Design is a must for HÅG. HÅG wishes to create products that work for you. The options and variations are abundant. You will always be able to find a chair that reflects your personality.

Dynamic ErgonomicsDynamic Ergonomics has contributed to putting HÅG in the global picture. It’s about developing seating solutions that satisfy the body’s need for movement. Chairs that move the whole body increase productivity and improve the user’s well-being. At the core of HÅG’s philosophy are the concepts of FootControlledMovement™ and BalancedMovementMechanism™ (for more information, please see page 66-67).

EnvironmentEnvironmental impact is reduced by using recyclable and recycled materials. Focus on the environment has a high priority at HÅG. Our goal is to minimise the use of materials and input factors during production, while optimising the chairs with regard to functionality. ISO certification, EMAS registration and approval from the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute go some way in proving our commitment to the environment (for more information, please see page 6-7).

QualityQuality is about never compromising when it comes to choice of materials, product development or tech no-logical processes. HÅG shall always achieve or exceed international quality standards. Among other things, we provide a 10 year guarantee on manufacturing faults.

In order to ensure sustainable development, HÅG has decided to become a beacon. We want to lead the way to a new era and manifest ourselves as an environmentally-friendly ideal.

Being at the forefront of development places great demands upon us. In all modesty one could state that we are well on our way: As long ago as 1995 we started using discarded car bumpers and recycled plastic from bottle caps to manufacture chairs. We were the first office chair manufacturer to become ISO 14001 certified, EMAS registered and to receive ISO 14025-based environmental declarations for our chairs. HÅG has also, as the first office chair manu-facturer in Europe, received certification from the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute in the USA. The certificate guarantees that HÅG's products are free of hazardous substances and emissions.

If you are looking for an environmentally-friendly chair, you should check the chair's carbon footprint, i.e. how much CO2 it represents from cradle to grave. If you are concerned with straining the environment as little as possible, you can safely select a chair from HÅG. Due to our numerous measures to benefit the environ ment such as low weight, few components, environmentally efficient materials and long lifespan, our chairs have a carbon footprint that is barely visible.

When HÅG manufactures chairs, we use recycled materials as much as possible. We use recycled steel, plastic and aluminium. This has significant environmental benefits: we use approximately 90% less energy when manufacturing a footbase from recycled aluminium than we would if we used virgin aluminium.

Unfortunately, there are several chairs on the market that contain hazardous substances. Chrome, which is both carcinogenic and harms reproductive capabilities, is widely used for footbases. We don't use it. We use polished aluminium. Others also use chrome to tan leather. Our solution is to use organically tanned leather. It does cost slightly more, but we consider it worth-while. Both for you and for the environment.

HÅG’s ConceptWhat makes HÅG’s chairs unique?

You get movement of the whole body without having to think about it – improving your health and productivity at work.

Why movement?Movement is essential to our health. It assists the nourish ment of the muscles all over our body, necessary for both healthy work and play. When we sit at work, concentrating on a task, we may move our hands, arms and head, but often simply “forget” about our legs. They remain “parked” and static. This affects our whole body. Ever noticed how tired you get after sitting for long periods? HÅG chairs inspire you to move your feet. The front edge of the seat tilts upwards when you lean backwards, and down when you lean forwards. This stimulates ankle movements, and in turn activates essential venous pumping mechanisms in your lower legs (“the peripheral heart”), increasing blood circu-la tion in your whole body. How does it work?HÅG’s unique Balanced Movement Mechanism™ means you sit in balance, above the natural pivot point of the chair (unlike most knee tilt syncro mechanisms). This puts you back in control, since balance is the best starting point for movement! The seat and back move in unison, allowing you to tilt backwards and forwards with equal ease and thus, the chair follows, not dictates, your movements.

Why is it different and better?The idea behind the Balanced Movement Mechanism™

is that our feet initiate movement when we are sitting (just like in a swing) as they are the only part of our body in contact with the ground. Isn’t that the purpose of our feet in all kinds of situations? When we walk, run or jump, our feet start the motion. The same goes for sitting. You initiate the tilting movement of the chair, backwards or forwards, by moving your feet and control the amount of tilt with your own body weight.

Foot Controlled Movement™ helps the flow of blood back to the heart, giving you more energy and thus helping you work more efficiently.

HÅG inBalance® HÅG has taken a step further and fine-tuned the technology in our balanced movement mechanism with the result that very few users need to adjust the tilt resistance in the chair. The key behind this is that the tilt resists and adjusts to the user and his/her balance point. You will sit perfectly in balance in a HÅG chair – you have complete control over your body and feel safe. Then you may move and change the sitting position just as you like without using any levers.

Remember, it is you who are in control of the chair – not the chair that controls you.

With its clean, continuous lines HÅG Futu can be perceived more as a piece of furniture than a technical aid. It is designed to be in harmony with its surroundings. Even though HÅG Futu is a fully functional work chair, it nevertheless lacks long dominating levers and unattractive dials that disturb the visual expression. The “The state of the art” quality of HÅG H09 starts with its individual parts. Exclusive leather or worsted wool provides a rich soft surface. The spine is the back-bone of the chair and gives it a sturdy, yet sophisticated look. Polished aluminium details is a standard feature on all models. Its manual adjustment system allows you to independently adjust several features and adapt the chair to your needs.

The HÅG H09 family is now complete with HÅG H09 Meeting. The meeting room collection is perfect for long sessions in meeting rooms and board rooms. The work chairs in the HÅG H09 series have been tested and approved in accordance with British Standard (BS 5459-2).

In order to create a clear visual impression whilst still providing first-class functionality, we have mostly used specially designed fabrics in the development of the HÅG H09 range.

Lumina: A transparent fabric with a shiny surface and vertical stripe effect in chenille, giving a warm feel.

Shimmer: Top-quality worsted wool mixed with polyester and wool to give an irregular, sparkly finish.

Space: Transparent polyamide fabric with a breezy feel and vertical stripe effect.

Tex: Both fabrics are made of satinweave, high-quality worsted wool that gives a slightly shiny finish.

Elmsoft: Soft, pliable top-quality semi-aniline leather with excellent friction and breathability.

ARMRESTSTHE SPINE HANDLE/COAT HANGER

The “The state of the art” quality of HÅG H09 starts with its individual parts. Exclusive leather or worsted wool provides a rich soft surface. The spine is the back-bone of the chair and gives it a sturdy, yet sophisticated look. Polished aluminium details is a standard feature on all models. Its manual adjustment system allows you to independently adjust several features and adapt the chair to your needs.

The HÅG H09 family is now complete with HÅG H09 Meeting. The meeting room collection is perfect for long sessions in meeting rooms and board rooms. The work chairs in the HÅG H09 series have been tested and approved in accordance with British Standard (BS 5459-2).

In order to create a clear visual impression whilst still providing first-class functionality, we have mostly used specially designed fabrics in the development of the HÅG H09 range.

Lumina: A transparent fabric with a shiny surface and vertical stripe effect in chenille, giving a warm feel.

Shimmer: Top-quality worsted wool mixed with polyester and wool to give an irregular, sparkly finish.

Space: Transparent polyamide fabric with a breezy feel and vertical stripe effect.

Tex: Both fabrics are made of satinweave, high-quality worsted wool that gives a slightly shiny finish.

Elmsoft: Soft, pliable top-quality semi-aniline leather with excellent friction and breathability.
