Health requirements and guidelines for Haj andUmrah for 1439H ( 2018G)

This document explains the health requirements andguidelines that must be full-filled by those coming toperform Haj and Umrah which are issued by the Ministryvr neolth and are being updated every Year.

Yellow Fever:

Those who are coming for Umrah or Haj or any otherpurpose from the following countries must present a validvaccination certificate showing that their persons werevaccinated at ieost 10 days before their arrival in theKingdom:

African countries:

Angola, Benin, Sudan, South Sudan, Senegal, Burkina Faso,Central African Republic, Cameroon Burundi, Chad,Ucorido, Congo, Cote d'lyoire, Sierra Leone, Gebel',Go.n:bic, Demccrctlc Republic of Hie Congo, EquatorialGuinea, Ethiopia, , Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Togo, Kenya,Ghana, Liberia, Niger, Nigeria, Mali, Mauritania.

South and Central America:

Ecuador; French Guyana, Guyana, Brazil, Bolivia, Suriname,Peru, Panama, Trinidad and Tobago, veriezuelo, Coiombia,Argentina and Paraguay. .

* It is necessary for the health agency of the country fromwhere the person is coming for Umrah, Haj or seasonalwork or for any other purpose to ensure that the Haji andumrah pilgrim has taken the dose on the specified timeand write the name of the used dose and date of taki ngthe dose clearly in vaccination certificate.

* In accordance with the International Health Regulations2005, all incoming ships are required to submit a validclearance certificate. The Health authorities have the rightto subjuqote ony uf the, mecns of transport forinspection to ensure that they are free of disease.

Neisseria thoracic fever:

* Every person coming for Umrah, Haj or seasonalwork or ony other purpose to the Haj regions from anycountry is required to submit a valid certificate ofvaccination proving that he has taken the quadraticvaccination before coming to the Kingdom withinperiod not less than 10 days as a condition forobtaining visa.

* ACYW135 multi-polyasaccharide quadratic vaccination,provided that the period is not more than 3 years from thedate of taking vaccination .

....Combined ACYW135quadratic vaccination provided thatthe period is not more than 5 years.

* The Health authority in the country from where the Hajisand Umrah performers come has to ensure that they havetaken the vaccination in the specified time and writename of the used vaccination and date clearly in thevaccination certificate.

Other categories targeted the vaccine:

* All citizens and residents of Mokkch end Modinah, whohave not been vaccinated in the past three years with themulti-polyasaccharide vaccination or in the post five yearswith the combined vaccination.

* All citizens and residents who wish to perform Hoj andwho have not been vaccinated in the post three years withmulti-polyasaccharide vaccination or in the past five yearswith the combined vaccination.

* Vaccination is accepted with one of the followingvaccines:

* At least one dose of Oral PolioVaccine (OPV)for a periodnot less than 4 weeksand not more than 12months priorto arrival in the Kingdom.

* At least one dose of IPOV for a period not less than 4weeksand not more than 12months prior to arrival in theKingdom.

* All the person coming from these countries should begiven another dose of (OPV)at the entry point on arrival inthe Kingdom regardless of age and previous vaccination.

Seasonal Influenza:

* The Saudi Ministry of Health advises every personcoming for Umrah or Haj particularly old aged peoplepregnant women and children under 5 years and obesitypersons and affected with the chronic diseases like heart

diseases; Kidney diseases; respirQto!-~' system diseases,Neurology diseases, diabetes, Patients with congenital andacquired immune deficiency, Metabolic diseases, to bevaccinoted against seasonal influenza before arrival intothe Kingdom of Saudi Arabia within the period not lessthan 10days.

* Seasonal influenza vaccination is recommended for allinter nol Hajis and all heolth care workers in the Hajregions before starting Haj rituals within the period notless than 10days.

The Ministry of Health also advises all Hajis andUmrah performers to comply with the following healthguidelines:

* Avoid direct mingling with camels

* Don't take sun-pasteurized or un-boiled camel milk orunder-cooked camel meats.

~'Keep washing hands with soap and water or disinfectant,especially after coughing and sneezing.

virus are required to submit a certificate indicating thatinsects (mosquitoes)were destroyed from the board inaccordance with Inter-nationalmethods.

Infectious diseases by water and food:

The Scud: Authorities ore not ollo\lling entry' of feedmaterials with the passengers coming for Haj and Urnroh.Only properly canned prepared for personal use in smallquantities in canes with easyaccess is allowed.

The Ministry of Health advises all Hajis and Umrahperformers to comply with the following health guidelines:

* Take care to clean hands before and otter eating andafter leaving the toilet.

* Do not eat cooked foods that are exposed or storedoutside the refrigerator,

Thermal abatement and sun'stroke:

The Ministry of Health in Saudi Arabia advises the heaLthauthorities in the countries from where the Hajis andUmrah performers come to provide them with informationabout the temperature rise and advise them to' adhere tothe following health guidelines:

*Avoidexcessivesun exposure, stay as long as possible intents and rooms, and sit in shaded areas as much aspossiblewhilewalking.

* Using suns to prevent sunlight* Excessiveintake of liquids

lv1edical Missions:

The Ministry of Health requests medical missionsaccompanying Haj missions to comply with the followingtechnical requirements:

* The number of doctors accompanying the mission shouldbe at least one doctor per 1,000 Hajis.

* At least 20% of General physicians in the medical missionshould represent from the total physician of the medicalmission.

* Each medical mission has to .enter into contract throughthe Office of Haj Services with a comoany specialized in

disposal of medical wastes and this agreement shouldcover the period of work of the mission in the Haj season.* Every mission should provide at least one room to isolatesuspected infectious diseases at medical clinics.

Health Awareness:

The iviinistry of i-iecun requests the following countriesfrom where the Hajis come to take the following intoconsideration:

* There should be a minimum physical capacity for Hajiand Umrah performer and this ability can not be achievedwithsevere chronic diseases such as renal failure, kidneyfailure, heart failure or pulmonary embolism, strokes andodvcnced cancer.

* Guide the Hajis and Umra performers on thetransmission of infectious diseases and their symptoms,ways of prevention and awareness,as well as ways to ovoidheot suppression and its complications.

* Guide the Hajis and Umrah performres affected withchronic diseases to bring their health status· andmedicines they used with sufficient quantities of thesemedicines in their original packaging which are enough forthem for Haj period.

Patients of chronic diseases like Diabetes, BP etc. should bring theirmedication for almost two months with a doctor's prescription. Take yourmedications regularly during the entire journev of Hajj.
