International recitalist, Kamil Mika, was born in Cracow, Poland in 1987. He took his master’s degree in Organ performance at the Academy of Music in Cracow under Professor Andrzej Bialko. Since then he has performed at music festivals throughout Europe. His repertoire is varied but especially features the music of Bach, Franck, Durufle and many Polish composers.

We are delighted to welcome the Annual Bearder Poetry Festival to the Minster Summer Festival for a second year. This inspiring event sees primary schools from across Calderdale participate in workshops under the guidance of a professional poet Esposito Giovanni, who goes by the name of Spoz.

Senior Citizens Orchestra Friday 6th July 10.30am FREE

This event is aimed at older people, especially those who are often housebound and isolated, who may benefit from the opportunity to get out and about and enjoy listening to a melody of popular tunes played by Calderdale’s own Senior Citizens Orchestra led by Judith Mclean. If you know people who would benefit from such an event like this, please bring them along. We would like to encourage Care Homes to organise transport for their residents to attend. This event is in partnership with Calderdale Council’s Staying Well Project. Refreshments will be provided and served at the end of the performance.

BBC RADIO 4SUNDAY Morning worship live Sunday 1st July 8.10am (seated by 7.45am) FREEBBC Radio 4 Sunday Morning Worship comes ‘live’ from Halifax Minster celebrating the Anglican Methodist Partnership, the publication of a new Hymnbook containing Wesley hymns, and the bicentenary of Halifax Choral Society. The congregation is invited to be seated by 7.45am, broadcast live 8.10am – 8.50am led by The Vicar of Halifax, The Revd Canon Hilary Barber, Music Director John Pryce Jones.

York Waits Saturday 7th July 7.30pm Adults £10 Children £5The York Waits take their name from the ancient city band of York. Today’s York Waits have revived the band as it was in its heyday in the 16th century, playing a wide repertoire of period European music as well as their own arrangements of popular dance and ballad tunes.
