Principal’s Update
Can you believe Thanksgiving Week is knocking at the door? As we make our way through the week, remind students that they still need to keep working hard. On Thursday 11/ 16, the cafeteria will be serving their Thanks-giving Luncheon. We welcome every-one to get a plate ($5.50). Parents have been invited to this wonderful event.
Again I would like to thank all the Veterans on our campus. THANK YOU to Mrs. Tarango, Mrs. Jackson, Mr. Avalos, Mr. Chavez, Mr. Landin, Mr. Hipps, and Mr. Townes. THANK YOU to everyone that went out and voted. The SISD Bond 2017 passed with a 60% to 40 % margin. Teachers, remember that we must be at our doors greeting the students when the bell rings at 7:30am. If there is an unforeseeable reason for tardiness or absence, please make sure and call or text your administrator. The first 10 people that Tell Alba Reza, “COWBOYS ARE HALL OF FAME” will receive a spe-cial treat this week. We are getting the Principals’
Student Advisory Committee up and
running. Please send me names of 6th,
7th and 8th graders that would be a
strong and honest voice for the stu-
dents.
I hope that everyone gets to spend
some quality time with their loved ones
over THANKSGIVING WEEK. Get some
much needed rest and come back
strong to finish off the 1st semester.
Week at a Glance: 11/16 DSC all day; Here rest of the week.
AP’s in Action By Earl Sanchez &
Frenda Serda-Gerardo
What a week! Only four days
but it seemed like five. Oh well,
what’s important is that we made
it. Needless to say, 1 more week
before the tryptophan rush. I can
already see myself sleeping the
days away because of too much
Turkey. (I’m getting ahead of my-
self.) Hear we go, I want to remind
everyone to please do not leave
the students unattended. I have
made calls to the classrooms and
students answering tell me that the
teacher is not in the room. When I
inquire as to the whereabouts of
the teacher, the students say they
do not know. Please make it a point
to have your room covered if you
need to leave for a quick break
(bathroom, etc..) We understand
life happens. Also, we certainly
have had our share of classroom
disruptions as well as class ex-
change disruptions. Maintain a
presence by making sure you are in
the hallways during class exchang-
es. The greater the adult presence,
the less likely students will misbe-
have. Let’s make this week pleasant
for all of us especially the students.
Oh, before I forget, make sure your
room doors are in the lock posi-
tion. They do not necessarily have
to be closed, but the door handle
has to be in the lock position. Let’s
have a great week buckaroos!!!!!

Hello everyone, Just a quick reminder that we will be doing a run through of Ap-ply TX with the 8th grade students on Monday, Nov 14th. PE classes will be in the Lab, and CTE students will in their classroom. We hope to have a very smooth process when we do the Apply TX on the 15th - 17th of November. Thank you in advance for everyone's support during this process. Further instruc-tions are forth coming for the ad-ministration process of the Apply TX. 7th and 8th grader Teachers Please reinforce with all your clas-ses and encourage your students about taking the PSAT. Its 10 dol-lars and it will be administered on Dec 1st. Tell your students that they can come to the counseling suite and pay for it.
Tips of the Week
Cultivate and live in a positive environment. Who you choose to spend your time with and the input you get from further away like the TV, the internet and magazines will have a huge effect on your outlook. To be able to stay positive it is essential to have influences in your life that support you and lift you up instead of dragging you down. So carefully consider what you let into your mind.

Do our beliefs about high expectations and our daily actions in our classrooms match? If asked, we be-
lieve all teachers would say that they have high expectations for all of their students. Unfortunately, we may
be saying/believing one thing; then, our actions communicate something completely different to our stu-
dents. This online article will break down actions that communicate low expectations and actions that com-
municate high expectations to our students, so that what we say and what we do match.

You can for example ask yourself: Who are the 3 most negative people I spend time with?
What are the 3 of most negative sources of information I spend time on?
Consider the answers. Then think about how you can start spending less time with one of those people or infor-mation sources this week. And how you can
spend more of the time you have now freed up with one of the most positive sources or people in your life.
