Dear Members and Friends of HSK: How has your week been? I have several things to be thankful for and one is that it seems all the church computers are working! Hallelujah! And seeing more of you in the church last Sunday made a very good feeling for me. Also, I am seeking God more so that I can understand His ways for us. (Thank you for praying for me!) If you ever wonder what I am learning (something I do not tell you about!) from reading my Bible, here is the main truth I have been trying to comprehend for many years: God is in control of what happens to me! Yes, in my head, I know this is the truth but why do I worry often? Just this past week a small incident made worry rob me of too much sleep. What is the truth to chase away worry? What is the truth to remove worry? I have not found the best answer yet but last week this truth popped out of the words of Jesus: 'Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?'(Matthew 6:26). What's the truth? Answer: God is in control of what happens to me because He thinks I am worth a lot! (Now what are you worrying about?) During a conversation with another Christian, the Lord reminded me of these words of Jesus, 'For if you forgive others of their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not

forgive your transgressions'(Matthew 6:14-15). Every time I read those words I have the strangest idea! What idea? Could God ever refuse to forgive someone of their sins? It seems He could! However, there is more to be said about the words of Jesus. First, forgiving others for what they fail to do is something we must never refuse to do. Second, when we forgive others, there is no failure we could make which God would refuse to forgive! 'O happy day, O happy day! When Jesus washed my sins away!' I want to thank everyone who has been faithfully watching Sunday morning meetings on their computer (and joining the prayer meetings on Sunday night.) Distractions are so many and so strong and reasons to do something else never end. Btu I am convinced that taking time to 'tune in' is always profitable. We must stay in touch with God. We must stay sensitive to the voice of the Holy Spirit. And singing as we sing at the church is being heard by God Almighty. Really, God is speaking to us so that we are wise in difficult situations. God is speaking so that we know the way through problems. God is speaking so that we finish our 'race'. Let's keep on growing 'in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.(2 Peter 3:18) Your pastor..............Ben

There will be a prayer meeting... tonight beginning at 6:55 PM. This prayer meeting can be seen on the Internet. Page 4 is full of prayer requests. Let's ask God for help!

The church financial report...will be printed in next week's bulletin. But today, your pastor thanks everyone who

has given to HSK during the past four weeks. He looks forward to reporting about how much we have given to others!

Let’s continue to pray for Daisy-san’s knee to heal well with no complications!

Please continue to pray for our Sunday School kids and their teachers this week.

We still need to ask the Lord to stop the spread of COVID-19! Multitudes of people in poorer nations are sick and dying.

Let’s pray for all the fathers in HSK! May they all be saved and lead their families to know God better.

This week let us choose of a leader of our nation and pray for him everyday. Hopefully, you are praying for your church....praying for families. Please also pray for pastors in our city.

We thank God for our worship team. Let's believe for the Holy Spirit to lead them each week.

Let's keep believing and asking for our loved ones to come to know Jesus!

Protests and riots in America are causing many serious problems. Who will pray for that nation today?

Adriana Yonekubo-san's mother passed away last week. Please pray for the family here and in Brazil.

Let's continue to give to and pray for our church "Food Bank" The Lord is blessing this outreach.

These Christians need God's strength today: Ben-san's aunt, Marsh-san and coworker, Kawashima-san. .............................................................. Note: If you do not want your prayer request in the church bulletin, please mark that clearly on your prayer request card.

Thoughts to ponder… from the book, The Gospel-Centered Life by…Robert Thune

c

'For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one a-nother' (Gal. 5:13) When we truly understand the depth and richness of the gospel, we naturally feel joy, delight, and freedom because of who Jesus is and what He has done for us. But as this verse teaches, it's possible to use even our freedom as "an opportunity for the flesh.” Our sinful hearts can take the good benefits of the gospel and use them for selfish purposes. Nowhere is this more evident than in our tendency to make the gospel a private reality. When we hear words l ike transformation, renewal, or growth, we conceive all those benefits as being primarily personal and internal, my transformation, my renewal, my growth. It is personal and internal. But it's also much more than that. When God's grace

is working on and in us, it will also work itself out through us. The internal renewal of our minds and hearts creates an external propulsion that moves us out in love. God's grace is the driving force of all change. It is both an inward and an out- ward movement that mirror each other. Internally, the grace of God moves me to see my sin, respond in repentance and faith, and then experience the joy of transformation. Externally, the grace of God moves me to see opportunities for love and service, respond in repentance and faith, and experience joy as I see God work through me. In other words, the gospel is not just the answer to your internal sins, struggles, and heart idols. It is also the answer to your failure to love others, engage the culture, and live missionally. Let's live in a way that the wonderful gospel of Jesus propels us outward!
