Our Purpose

Harbor School is on Vashon Island in Washington State.

We travel extensively to explore our country, meet its people, and help how we can.

Our History withSt. Paul's Homecoming Center

We first traveled to New Orleans in 2005, before the major storms.

We returned in 2007 and ever since. We began working with St. Paul's in 2011, then 2012 and 2013

Who We Served

St. Paul's lets our 8th graders interact with the people of New Orleans. It is a real interaction, not a faceless service project.

Primarily, we've helped real families get back into their homes.

Who We Served

This last year, we met a great family down in St. Bernard. There were three generations living in a house that needed a lot of help. We painted that house so that it will last them for years to come.

We also planted a lot of trees around the city, which helps every citizen of New Orleans, and we got to meet a lot of people as we worked.

Ongoing Relationship withSt. Paul's Homecoming Center

We worked with a few other organizations before we found St. Paul's.

They work perfectly with a group of our size and age (about a dozen plus fourteen year-old students).

Our trip to New Orleans is an annual one, and we will work with St. Paul's Homecoming Center each year for as long as we can.

If We Won the Prize Money

St. Paul's is truly helping New Orleans.

They need building supplies, trees to plant, and gas for their vehicles.

They need admin support, payroll support, and outreach support.

If We Won the Prize Money

Over a few years, we have come to have a lot of respect for Connie Uddo, Merri K. Graves, and the rest of the St. Paul's staff and volunteers.

They have taught us about their city, shared their stories, and made a lasting impact on our students.

Any financial support of their mission is money very well spent.
