ST. ISIDORE CHURCH MACOMB, MICHIGAN 2

How does prayer guide me to do the right thing?

We learn to pray at certain moments by hearing the Word of the Lord and sharing in his Paschal mystery, but his Spirit is offered us at all times, in the events of each day, to make prayer spring up from us. (CCC2659).

During the everyday experience of our lives, we are given opportunities to seek God through prayer. One of my favorite saints (St. Anthony) is on the top of my list of saints that I turn to when I need help, especially when I’ve lost or need “divine intervention” to find something I’ve misplaced.

The Christian family is the first place for education in prayer. (CCC 2694). It is at home that we first learn the need and value of a quiet conversation with God. Find a comfortable space where you (or the whole family) can pray.

Prayer in the events of each day and each moment is one of the secrets of the kingdom revealed to “little children,” to servants of Christ, to the poor of the Beatitudes. It is helpful to bring prayer into humble, everyday situations.

As St. Paul tells us: “Pray constantly.” (1Thess 5:17).

convention by Bishop Hying of Madison, Wisconsin, the SVDP national Spiritual Advisor. We encourage you to join us.

We express our gratitude to the St. Isidore Vincentions who give a great amount of time and effort in performing the very heart of our mission as a Catholic community.

Next weekend we will be initiating a new form of hospitality after our Sunday liturgies. Instead of “Coffee and Donuts” in the parish hall, we will be offering simple refreshments in the Gathering Space. The hope is to create greater fellowship by “roaming” and “mixing” with others, rather than just sitting at a table with those we already know. It is also intended to be more welcoming to our visitors. The current plan is to offer this hospitality approximately twice a month. Stay tuned!Blessings!

“You may think that you are completely insignificant in this world. But someone drinks coffee every morning from their favorite cup that you gave them, heard a song on the radio that reminded them of you, remembered a joke you told and smiled, loves him/herself a little more because you gave them a compliment. Never think that you have no influence whatsoever. Your trace, which you leave behind with good deeds, can never be erased.”CHRISTINA MAKEYEVA

Parishioners can get one of our prayer blankets or shawls – free of charge - in the St. Isidore office for any person who needs comfort due to a medical, emotional, or spiritual crisis in their life.

We always pray for our recipients.Thank you for your participation in this ministry.“The Comfort Crafters”

Do you feel lost, alone or bored in your marriage? Are you frustrated, hurt or angry with your spouse? Are you constantly fighting? Have you thought about separation or divorce? We can help!

The Retrouvaille Program consists of a weekend experience combined with a series of twelve follow up (or Post) sessions over the course of six weeks. It provides the tools to help put your marriage in order again. The main emphasis of the program is on communication in marriage between husband and wife. It will give you the opportunity to rediscover each other and examine your lives together in a new and positive way. Five years after the Retrouvaille weekend we surveyed attendees and 76% of respondents were still married!

This quite possibly could be the best gift you ever give yourself, your spouse, your children, your family and your friends!!

The next Retrouvaille program will beginFriday, October 4th, 2019 in Romulus.helpourmarriage.org

Have you ever considered working at St. Isidore? Are you 18 years or older? Are you willing to assist our team with covering weekend maintenance shifts, especially as they relate to Sunday morning and/or Sunday evening? Do you love helping people? Do you have a knack for cleaning and/or fixing things?

If you answered yes to these questions listed above you may be a great fit for our maintenance/custodial team.

ST. ISIDORE CHURCH MACOMB, MICHIGAN 10

Over the last several years, we have worked hard to strengthen our commitment to our worship community.

Despite a national trend of church attendance declining, our faith community continues to grow as we achieve new ways of connecting with God, reaching others, and building community.

There is still more we can do, but technology limitations currently exist that are holding us back from allowing Christ’s message to truly resound.

We want it to resound in every way: through sound, which allows spoken word and music to be heard clearly; through lighting, which creates a prayerful atmosphere; and through video, which can take the message beyond these walls.

These are big areas to improve into which we’ve put a lot of time and energy beginning in summer 2019. As such, we are breaking this project into three phases: sound, lights, and video. Visit our website to learn more about the project including regular updates, time lines, and answers to questions you might have.

SOUND

LIGHT

VIDEO

We know that the number one area that we need to improve in our worship space is sound. While we have done the best we could trying to improve the intelligibility of the spoken word with our current resources, we feel there have only been marginal improvements and think that most would agree with that.

The spoken word is one of the important aspects of worship; if you can’t understand the message, what’s the point?

Speakers are the primary component in our improvement plan as well as the components required to handling amplification and processing.

We have received three proposed solutions from top companies in the area. Two of the solutions were demoed during weekend Masses on September 7/8 and September 14/15. The third solution is not available for demonstration.

UTE PRIESTLY VOCATIONS

The Office of Priestly Vocations is hosting a Vocation Night and five Junior High Vocation Days at Sacred Heart Major Seminary this fall, allowing seventh-grade boys and girls to learn more about the priesthood and consecrated life. Students will hear how others have come to understand their call from God, pray Evening Prayer or celebrate Mass with an Auxiliary Bishop in the seminary chapel, and tour the historic seminary. The Vocation Night will be held at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, October 9. The dates for school groups to attend the Junior High Vocation Days are Tuesday, September 24; Wednesday, September 25; Tuesday, October 8; Wednesday, October 9; and Wednesday, November 6. All carry a low cost of $5 per person.

Your CSA gifts ensure the Office of Priestly Vocations is able to promote vocations through events like these as well discernment overnights and weekends at Sacred Heart Major Seminary and regional gatherings. It also provides outreach to parishes and schools and vocations literature, brochures, and prayer cards.FOR INFORMATION ABOUT CSA-FUNDED MINISTRIES, PROGRAMS, AND SERVICES, PLEASE GO TO AOD.ORG.
