Our MissionHealing TREE (Trauma Resources, Education & Empowerment) is dedicated to transforming how society responds to abuse and interpersonal trauma.
The IssueLeading studies show that trauma is a public health crisis and the root cause behind much mental and physical illness, addiction, crime, domestic violence, homelessness and suicide. Effective treatments are available but there is a lack of integration between the trauma, mental health and medical fields and of general awareness on the issue. We exist to change that so that healing from trauma, as opposed to putting a band aid on the symptoms, becomes the new normal.
Our Story comes from personal experienceHealing TREE was founded in 2014 by then 24 year old actor Marissa Ghavami following her own experience surviving abuse and making a full recovery from Complex PTSD after receiving trauma-focused treatment. When she learned that the majority of people suffering were not being told that trauma could be a root cause of their symptoms and subsequently given effective treatments, she became determined to do something about it and Healing TREE was born.
