    Weddings are a reflection of culture and the one that Yael attendedin the Kibbutz is no exception. In the previous two lessons weheard Yael describing her trip to Israel. Now we get to the best partof the trip, her cousins wedding in the Kibbutz. Lets hear how itwent.

    Right in Yaels first sentence, we heard several useful expressions.She started with at last

    At last Yael was over her jet lag. To say that Im over something orthat I no longer feel something, I would say

    Yael said she was feeling great

    is ten, of course.

    Uri prodded her to tell him more about the visit, and Yael asked

    The word for a bride is

    The bride and groom arrived on a tractor decorated with flowers.

    Al trac-tor me-koo-shat bif-ra-him

    Decorated is . Flowers are . With flowers turns into.

    Lets see another example. The tables were decorated withflowers

    Since the word is an adjective, we need the verb to behere .

    The chuppah is the canopy under which the religious weddingceremony takes place. In this wedding, the chuppah was outdoors.The word for outdoors or outside is

    means it, referring to the dress. means by herself.

    At the wedding there was food in abundance. The word forabundance or plenty is

    To sum it up, Yael said that the whole event was excellent. To saythe whole event, she said

    Kol ha-ey-roo-a

    And to say excellent, she had an expression

    Ha-val al ha-zman

    In other words, it would be a shame to waste time describing it itwas so good.

    Uri asked Yael to wish the newlyweds good luck. To wish is .In the future tense speaking to Yael, Uri said . Wish them

    good luck from me.
