John Newlands
John Newlands wrote the Law of Octaves, he ordered the elements in increasing relative atomic mass.
Newlands proposed that the 8th element was a repetition of (had similar properties to) the first.
His work was rejected by other scientists because:• He assumed all elements had been discovered• No gaps were left for undiscovered elements• He grouped some elements together which were
not alike• He found it necessary to place 2 elements in the
same position
John Newlands - Notes
•Research shows that in order for information to be committed to memory the learner must be exposed to the information at least 6 times.
