Here we are at the eve of the 39th edition of the Régates Royales. We are always enthusiast to see you coming back to Cannes and to watch you racing on the race course. The Yacht Club de Cannes and its staff are ready to welcome you, boats, skippers and crews to praise, award and contemplate you sailing. You will be a pleasure for the eye and a joy for the many fans and spectators who will taste the show of the fleet sailing on the water from the Croisette to the îles de Lérins. Competition, elegance, social events and fun are the four pillars of the 39th edition of the Régates Royales Cannes Competition: our Principal Race Officer and his staff have been working since last year's edition to set up new courses, guaranteeing that the crews can have the best of the race area and the weather conditions. Longer or shorter but always fun and much more... Elegance: this year the Royales will award once again the most elegant yacht, during a special contest scheduled for Wednesday morning. The yachts will compete and will be judged for their beauty, the quality of their restoration, the crews' outfits and other style details. Social events: every evening the village will be alive with attractions and a special party to celebrate the yachts 50 years old. New contests and surprises for the crews are what make the Régates Royales one of the best rendezvous of the season and of the Trophée Panerai. Fun: the organizers from the Yacht club de Cannes will once again give their best to set up this prestigious event, welcome the owners, the crews, exhibitors, sponsors, visitors, media and photographers all along 8 days. The 39th edition of the Régates Royales – Trophée Panerai will enliven once again the Bay of Cannes, from the 23rd to the 30th September. Classics, Spirit of Tradition, Metre class boats, Dragons and Tofinou one-designs will gather in a unique display of beauty, elegance and competition The bay of Cannes will be, once again the place to be for sailors and fans. As the autumn is just about started, the fleet criss-crossing the bay will unite beauty, heritage and close racing. A unique line-up gathering some of the most famous yachts from last century, from the tiny Arcadia to the majestic Cambria. No less than 150 classic and traditional yachts will fight for victory on a race area close to the stunning Lérins Islands, bringing back memories from the yachting “golden age”.

The Dragons celebrate their 30th participation to the Régates Royales de Cannes Since their comeback to Cannes in 1987, the Dragons haven't stopped attracting and charming fans of one-design sail racing. It will happen again this year, when some fifty crews coming from ten different countries, will meet in the Cote d'Azur. The Régates Royales will pull together the best Dragon sailors for four days of very close racing. The pop village Set on the Quai Laubeuf the Régates Royales –Trophée Panerai village will animate every day before and after racing time with several attractions, namely at night.

This 39th edition of the Régates Royales – Trophée Panerai is organised by the Yacht Club of Cannes, under the patronage of the Yacht Club of France, the CIM and the French Sailing Federation (FFV). The race benefits from the continued support of the city of Cannes, essential partner of the organisation and of Panerai, title sponsor of the event. PRO : Jérôme NUTTE – Karine GRENE (adjoint) President of the International Jury: Yves LEGLISE President of the Classics Race Committee: Philippe ENEL President of Dragons Race Committee: Olivier DE TURCKHEIM President of the 5.5mJI Race Committe: Yvon POUTRIQUET Measurer: Yves-Marie LEROUX Races Courses - from 23 to 30 September Classic Yachts and 5,5 MJI will start from the bay (west or east) and their coastal race will lead them outside the bay, in order to avoid crossing paths with others series. A long leg in the direction of Lerins Islands, crossing the bay towards the Esterel hills, tour of Lerins Islands… The race committee will make the choice of course before each start, depending on the weather conditions. Dragons will compete on inshore regattas in the East or West bay, depending on weather conditions. This type of race is simple but technically demanding: competitors must sail three legs upwind and two legs downwind. These regattas require tactical and technical decisions. The race course orientation must be as close as possible to the wind direction.

The Régates Royales – Trophée Panerai Village On shore, a tented village will be set up on quai Labeuf along Cannes Vieux Port, hosting the teams, the organisers, the Jury, the press as well as several stands: photography and painting exhibitions, shoes, sailing style deco, clothing...Situated in front of the pontoons, this village is the heart of the onshore life of the Régates Royales and one will always find a warm and hearty atmosphere before and after the races. Elegance and prestige For the Third year, a special award for "Elegance and prestige" will be presented at the Régates Royales. The prize was created on an idea by the owner of Dorade, the beautiful yacht designed by Olin Stephens back in 1930, who donated the exclusive Trophy to the Yacht Club de Cannes. The most elegant yacht will be judged by an experts' panel. The Media Centre The media centre is open daily from 9:00 to 20:00. A daily French and English press release will be sent to the press with digital pictures. The organisation offers the possibility to accredited journalists and photographers to go on water to follow the regattas.
