Wed 2 ANH Trio Hot-shot young Edenheight/Ruckus Collective saxmeister Andrew ‘Schoolboy’ Neil Hayes leads off some hot jazz grooves.

Thur 3 Andy Hague Quintet Top flight modern jazz featuring Andy’s great tunes and sizzling trumpet sharing the spotlight with four equally ear-catching chums.

F r i 4

Kamba Band Their high-energy sound of this remarkable Afro-European collaboration combines the haunting Swedish nyckelharpa with the Moroccan string bass guembri and Senegalese percussion. Their unique music combines trance-like insistence with a weird folk-classicism

Sat 5 George Mabuza Group The ongoing celebration of late local hero George, a great sax player and tunesmith with a carnival soul.

Sun 6 James Ladd Trio A timeless sound, reflecting echoes of country blues, contemporary R’n’B and old-time swampy stuff from New Orleans.

mon 7 Canteen Jazz Session An open jazz jam session for seasoned players to join the house trio and others in exploring classic jazz & latin tunes.

Tues 8 Kit Hawes Phenomenal guitarist with folk, jazz and contemporary music at his fingertips and a fine sense of what’s properly musical.

Wed 9 Dancing Bear Trio Two top players from the South Wales scene meet a brace of our local heroes for some top-quality contemporary jazzing.

Fri 11 Fuzia Proper-job Balkan knees-up. Their driving rhythms and soaring tunes will bring Bulgarian wedding energy to Hamilton House..

S a t 12

Baila la Cumbia Catching the rich and spicy mix of music from the Caribbean coast of South America, Baila la Cumbia’s mix of salsa, ska and (of course) cumber is a non-step sequence of infectious rhythms and chirpy good-time dance tunes with all the energy and intricacy of a 9-piece band.

Sun 13 Guy Calhoun (solo) This versatile singer/songwriter draws on a definitely English heritage with echoes of Nick Drake and Richard Thompson.

Mon 14 Lady Nade & Friends There’s always plenty of talent on display when the sumptuous-voiced Lady Nade gets her friends round to play.

Tues 15 DFace/Most Planes Land Here’s an interesting double header featuring looping violin poet DFace and the gentle and lyrical Most Planes Land.

Wed 16 Pearce, Davies, Lewis An impeccably swinging trio combination of John Pearce (mighty violin), Brett lewis (nifty guitar) and Trevor Davies (snare extraordinaire).

THU 17

Calico Jack Shanty-minded acoustic piracy with a whiff of klezmer in the sweeping clarinet, fiddle and accordion. Formed in the misty intrigues of the Bath canal system this 6-piece comes somewhere between The Pogues and The Specials.5

Calico Jack Shanty-minded acoustic piracy with a whiff of klezmer in the sweeping clarinet, fiddle and accordion. Formed in the misty intrigues of the Bath canal system this 6-piece comes somewhere between The Pogues and The Specials.

Fri 18 Los Mercenarios Let’s talk heavyweight funk with jazz attitude. Or dub. Or Latin, likewise? This well-established outfit delivers the lot.

S a t 19

Rogora Khart They claim to be Black Sea punks but there’s a decidedly Welsh accent involved here somewhere between the songs in Georgian, German and English. It’s all a bit circus, really with the painted faces and day of the dead dancing girls. Bettwys Banghra, anyone?

Sun 20 Sergeant Early’s Dream Acoustic folk that brings fresh style and energy to deeply rooted traditional music and a folksome ear to more contemporary numbers.

Mon 21 Canteen Jazz Session An open jazz jam session for seasoned players to join the house trio and others in exploring classic jazz & latin tunes.

Tue 22 Toyface Less quirky than just disarmingly honest, this singer/songwriter’s songs just unwind

Wed 23 Jake McMurchie Trio Best known for his part in award-winning jazz-rockers Get The Blessing, Jake McMurchie’s saxophone playing is one of the finest.

Thu 24

Flats & SharpsRidiculously young and ridiculously good bluegrass quartet from the Blue Ridge Mountains of Penzance, apparently. Down there you might even catch them busking but otherwise be sure to expect them on a festival stage anywhere in the country. And Canteen, of course.

Fri 25 Elephant Talk They call it ‘urban folk’, an ambitious admixture of pure acoustic traditional themes and supersmart electronic evocations.

S a t 26

Conjunto Gringo Taking proper Cuban dance music from the likes of Tito Puente and the Afro-Cuban All Stars as their inspiration, this eight-headed octomonster band mix covers and originals in a splendidly jazzy evocation of Havana nightlife at its most musical.

Sun 27 Fiona Barrow Duo or Nuala Purveyor of fine, fluent fiddle music from all over everywhere, Fiona Barrow can swing it jazz style or sweep liltingly

Mon 28 Omer Makessa Former Mankala singer/songwriter with a honey-husked voice and a lilting Afro-Caribbean guitar style

Wed 30 Leo JamesAs much a guitarist as a singer/songwriter, Leo James’ original material draws on English and US folk roots.

Thu 31

Patrick Hayes Electric EnsembleImpressive young jazz collective gathered up by talented trombonist, bandleader and arranger Patrick Hayes to play his original and very funky music. Look out for megabass player (and former doyen of the Bristol music scene) Jeff Spencer among the Ensemble’s jostling jazzy ranks.

Nia soundtrack is hugely varied from funk to latin to housey beats and really sets the scene for a class that is deceptively harder work than it appears. Through exploring The Body’s Way we discover our own Body’s Way.

If you like your exercise to be away from the gym, to be constantly changing and possibly a social experience then Nia is for you!
