Fall has arrived and some of our Members will be heading south soon. Now is the time to stop by the golf shop to clean up any unused credits or take advantage of our end of season inventory reduction sale! If a special club, apparel or gift for the holiday season is needed, now is the time to order to have it before the holiday season. As always, if we can assist in anyway please let us know in the Golf Shop!

Thank you, The Golf Shop Staff

attract new members that we had planned for this season and couldn't due to COVID, this plan will bring our Club up to the 21st century and assist in attracting new members. As you all know, we had to make some reductions in the golf course maintenance staff this past season. The 2021 budget will include enough funds to provide Nathan a complete staff. We will also present proposals for some By-Law changes at the October 10 meeting. By now our members should have received those proposals. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to contact the office, the staff will relay your questions to the Board for clarification. Exciting plans are in place and ready to go, your continued support of our Club is appreciated! We're on the right path!

It's been my honor to serve our Club.

Regards, Rich Kaplan, President FOR THE GOOD OF THE CLUB!

1. The biggest question this month has been “Who is on the Finance Committee?” The committee has met monthly for most of the year and this has been a great input of ideas and observations. The members are Bill Boyles, Bob Reed, Lou Garner, Pete Morrow, Ricky Brown and Tom Styers. Also attending each meeting have been Rich Kaplan, Mike West and Barbie Blankenship. Thanks to all of these folks.

2. We met our operating profit/loss budget expectations for August, slightly exceeding budget. This is the revised budget after the virus hit.

3. Dues, golf fees and food services were all ahead. 4. Operating cash should end the year around $100,000,

assuming we continue to meet budget. 5. The key challenge is now to plan a budget for 2021. This will

be a challenge as we plan for our golf course to be back to a full maintenance schedule. As you will remember, when we reduced the budget last spring due to the virus, expenses were reduced by $216,000 to offset lost revenues, of which $ 120,000 was golf course. We will budget assuming that we return to normal and adjust accordingly based on circumstances going into 2021.

Thank you for all of your support. Your Finance Committee

Ladies News & NotesLadies News & NotesLadies News & NotesLadies News & Notes

We’re delighted to announce and welcome the new LGA Board. We know this talented group of ladies will do an outstanding job!

• President – Sally Earnhardt

• Vice President – Jane Knott

• Secretary – Carol Perdue

• Treasurer – Susan Lewis

Remember the High Meadows Ladies Golf Association (LGA) invites all lady members of High Meadows Golf & Country Club to join us. Our mission is to promote golf and fellowship among the lady members at High Meadows. Whether you’re a beginner, casual or serious golfer - or not a golfer at all - there is a place for you. We hope to have more social (non-golf) events in 2021 so come join the fun! We’d love to have you!

Sue Talley LGA President

As poet Robert Burns once said in a poem, the best laid plans of mice and men gang aft aglay, or in other words, oft go astray, and that’s what happened to our plans for a dynamite social season here at High Meadows. To say that we are disappointed would be an understatement. The only social event we were able to have inside this year was the New Year’s Eve party. We did manage to have a Scavenger Hunt and some Fun Friday Golf, but the Horse Races were cancelled twice. Between Covid and the weather, the season was pretty much a washout! We are certainly hoping to kickoff the 2021 season in grand style and to be able to offer fun events throughout next summer. If you have any ideas or suggestions for events or activities, please email one of the Social Committee Members. Have a safe, healthy winter and we’ll see you back on the mountain in the Spring.

Social Committee, Vicki Cox, Chair Nancy Boyles, Dana Caudle, Peggy Cooper, Pamela Hinson, Cindy Lee Middleton, Maggie Styers and Cathy Williams

ALL Golf, Social & Dining Members!

This has been a rough year on all of us as far as FUN social activities has been concerned. And, we cannot have a Halloween Party, due to COVID restrictions. BUT what we can do is make dinner reservations for Halloween night, Saturday, October 31st, and come dressed in costume! Everyone who comes to dinner in costume on Halloween night will receive a FREE dessert! So lets end the season with a little bit of FUN and not let COVID steal everything from us this year! Find your inner child, dress up and get a FREE dessert!
