Left Bank Cylinder # 3
3LP ULT + 3LP VTL - is on the bottom of the power head by the engine block.
3L ULT – is on the valve cover.
3L VTL - is in the center of the head close to the spark plug.

Mechanics changed both push rods with new lifters, installed a completely newrocker arm assembly. Inspected all valve springs, valve keepers. Tried to move
valves to see if any excessive valve guide clearance was present. Everything looksand feels good. Also inspected all rod bearing
clearances.
TEST
Pulled the spark plug wire off of LB #3 with the engine running at 835rpm and
the knock is still present. Shut engine down, pulled valve cover off, checked valveadjustments again (still ok), rolled the engine over with starting air and there was
no knock present. Started the engine back up with the valve cover off and theengine running at 740rpm’s and the knock would come and go. Valve train
assembly is getting plenty of oil to all points and then some (making a mess, haha). Took rpm’s back up to 840rpm with the valve cover off and the knock stayed
constant, hitting every time at this angle of 470deg.
