OFFICIAL DUES NOTICE FOR 2013—2014
Hollywood West Lodge 2365 We have been able to keep our mailing costs down the past several years by publishing the dues notice in the bulletin for the coming year. The annual dues will be $86.50 for members and $40.50 for life members.
Dues payments in the form of cash or check may be given to the bartender for the Secretary. Payments to be made by credit card must be made to the Secretary.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Donna Powers, Secretary
Brother and Sister Elks,
Being in the middle of the holiday season finds us with many opportunities to work and play together.
Our team of officers and volunteers has been doing a “Bang Up” job of cooperating from the Christmas Party through the New Year Party — making for a successful adventure. Our team is looking forward to the same happy times with the Valentine Dinner and Dance Party, in February, and the St. Patrick’s Day party in March
At this time I want to express my gratitude to all the members of “Our Team”. We would like to share these moments of friendship and camaraderie with others. If you would like to join in, your participation would be ap-preciated.
We would like to welcome and thank new member, Don Taylor and his great music on Friday night.
The first meeting, in February, is the time to submit names for positions as officers for this Lodge. If you, or someone you know, would like to belong to “Our Team” please notify us.
Fraternally,
BJ Smith, PER
Exalted Ruler

Secretary’s Corner Brother and Sister Elks,
We have been working hard this past month making some well needed changes and additions to the Lodge. Here is hoping that this newsletter finds all of you healthy and happy!
Membership renewal letters have been mailed and by now you should have received yours. I call them ‘renewals’ because that is what they are meant to be – a renewal of your commitment to Brotherly Love, Justice, Charity and Fidelity. Please note that pay-ments are due by March 31st; I sent them out early so that you would be able to plan accordingly. Included in the mailing was a form on which you could designate your giving and your desire to serve on any committee or volunteer in any capacity in the Lodge. Any comments that you may want to share with us would be greatly appreciated, and kept completely confidential. Please consider taking a chair position, or just a commitment to come in and see us more often!
I mentioned taking a position…at this time, nominations haven’t yet been held (they will be held at the February 7th meeting) so please continue to make this a serious consideration. Elections (and any further nominations from the floor) will be held at the February 21st meeting. Please plan on attending both of these meet-ings…..they are important to the success and survival of our Lodge. We need you! Even if you can’t serve in an official capacity, we need you to come out to meetings and become informed. At this time, the installation of new officers is planned for Saturday, April 6th at 4:00 pm. Try to come out and show your support.
We now have a credit card machine in the Lodge. Dues can be paid by credit card now. The Secretary can do that for/with you. As always, the bartenders can accept cash and check dues payments from members. These payments will be forwarded to me for proc-essing. Also please make note that according to our By-Laws, we cannot accept 6 month payments….our By-Laws state “dues shall
be payable annually, in advance, on or before April 1st of each
year…. (Article X, Section 2, paragraph 2, page 22)
For future reference – if any member is interested in attending Florida State Elks Convention or Grand Lodge Convention – Florida State Elks Convention will be held May 23 – 25 in Disney Coronado Resort in Orlando…..Grand Lodge Convention will be held July 14 – 18 in Reno, Nevada. You can learn much about what the Elks do at these informative meetings.
Lastly, “CALLING ALL COOKS! CALLING ALL
COOKS!” We are in need of members to help us with our weekly meals…..if you can donate one day a month to the lodge…we would deeply appreciate it! We have tacos every Tuesday, Italian night every Wednesday, and assorted dinners with music every Friday night. If you have a specialty that you would like to cook on a Fri-day, COME ON IN! We will welcome you with open arms!
Until next month,
Fraternally,
Donna Powers, Secretary
