Second Sunday in Ordinary Time 2
“Pastor’s Weekend Message”
“All the earth shall bow before you, O God, and
shall sing to you, shall sing to your name, O
Most High!” Psalm 66 (65): 4
This week in our liturgies we begin, ‘Ordinary Time’.
There is nothing ‘ordinary about it’ but in fact it is just a
way of saying that we continue to celebrate the mystery of
our salvation outside of the Advent/Christmas season and
Lent/Easter season. ‘Ordinary Time’ is in fact a call to the
reality of our daily life. During this time, we are called to
live in ‘extraordinary ways’ in an ordinary time. During
this week I am very grateful to four people who have
served as members of the Pastoral Council: Chuck Ban-
thos, Ann Tognetti, Tony Mordinoia and Juan Magallon.
Thank you for your support and the years that you served
on the Pastoral Council. We have nine members in total.
Know also that our office continues to work with Modesto
Commerce Bank to rebuild our Nazareth Hall. I also want
to thank you for continuing to use our green “Building
Our Future Together”campaign envelopes. Our 2015
approach to increase our Building Development Fund was
very successful. Thank you. Although we are living dur-
ing very difficult economic times, please continue to sup-
port Holy Family with your weekly offering. To break
even with our current budget needs, we need a minimum
of $5,000 weekly. Every dollar makes a difference. Wish-
ing you well and good health during this winter season.
May every moment of your life be ‘extraordinary with
God’s help’. Pastoral Note: Our Bishop’s Ministry Appeal
is just around the corner. ‘Almighty God, we come with
praise and thanksgiving. Your presence is seen in many
ordinary ways. Protect all who need your blessings.’
Thanks for helping. Have a blessed week, Fr. Juan
“Mensaje Pastoral del Parroco”
“Que se postre ante ti, Señor, la tierra entera;
a tu nombre” Salmo 65, 4
Chuck Banthos, Ann Tognetti, Tony Mordinoia y Juan
Magallon.
Amen.”
Que Dios bendiga su semana, Padre Juan
PRAYER FOR RAIN AND SNOW
God our Provider, we come before you in this period of drought to ask for your help. We know you are aware of
our needs and of our ultimate dependence on you. As we look at our dry hills and fields and at the shortage of wa-
ter in our streams and reservoirs, we turn to you with hope and confidence and ask you bless us with gentle rains in
our valleys and hillsides and with snow in the mountains. We make this prayer through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Amen.
