Parish of the Holy Eucharist Disciple Maker Index Survey Follow up

"Go therefore and make disci-ples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Fa-ther, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have com-manded you. And behold, I am with you always, even until the end of the age." - Matthew 28:19-20

Dear Parish Family, In this joyous season of Easter, I

am excited to announce that the Parish of the Holy Eucharist Parish Survey Team has completed the first phase of its exciting journey to discover how the mission of our parish can be lived more fully. The goal was for us to better meet the needs of our parish community and those we serve.

As part of a diocesan-wide planning effort, led by Catholic Leadership Insti-tute of Philadelphia, the 14-member planning team was comprised of parish-ioners and clergy. The team graciously offered their time and talents to partici-

pate in an eight month process of draft-ing a priority plan geared towards help-ing to better make our parish a healthy and vibrant place of welcome and growth.

The planning process consisted of

four primary areas of discernment which included constructing our: 1. Parish Purpose Statement 2. Parish Vision for the future 3. Primary Goals for achieving this

Vision 4. Implementation strategies within a

five-year time frame

During this planning process… • Our parish team met on a regular

basis to accomplish the goals of the process along with members from All Saints Parish (who were partici-pating in the same process)

• The members studied the results of the survey completed by pa-rishioners in the Spring of 2017. This survey gauged where parish-ioners are on their individual faith journey and how the parish can better foster their personal growth.

• Our plan has recently been ap-proved by Bishop Deeley. We will soon be presenting it to the parish.

HOW YOU CAN CONTINUE TO Sup-port the Process Pray. The most significant way for you to support this process is to pray and ask the Holy Spirit to guide the process and the planning team, as we move to implement our goals. Participate. Throughout the process you will have the opportunity to offer feedback to the planning team and to myself. Each parishioner will once again have the opportunity to take the Disciple Maker Index (DMI) survey. This tool is one of the ways we will be able to gauge where we are as a par-ish, discover areas of improvement, and discern new opportunities for growth. Your feedback is vital to this survey process, so please participate and encourage others to do so. Sur-veys will be available in paper form at the parish and electronically via email and on our parish website. Share. In addition to the parish survey that was done in the Spring of 2017, we will also be assessing the overall environment of our parish's founda-tional ministries - Sacraments and Worship, Education and Formation, Governance and Finance, Social Ser-vices and Outreach, Vocations and Evangelization. We encourage you to share your experiences with these foundational ministries with our plan-ning team to aid the process. Encourage. Parish planning is a long process and often does not bear visi-ble fruit as changes and new initiatives are implemented. Encourage the planning team and your fellow parish-ioners by reminding them that the seeds of a bountiful harvest are often slow to sprout, but yield ten-fold in due time.

Bishop Deeley has made plan-ning a priority throughout the diocese to ensure that all parishes are healthy and vibrant places of worship, evan-gelization, and service. To-date, twelve parishes in the diocese have either completed or are working to-wards completing a Priority Plan. This process is being led by Catholic Lead-ership Institute (CLI) which has more than 20 years of experience with par-ish and diocesan planning and leader-ship training. CLI’s Kate Sell has been working directly with the POTHE planning team, guiding us through this proces every step of the way.

The Bishop and his staff have

published a diocesan-wide strategic plan that details his larger vision for the diocese. If you have any ques-tions, please contact me or any mem-ber of the Priority Planning team. We are happy to answer any questions and share where we are in the pro-cess. We are interested in getting your feedback on your hopes for our

parish and how we can best serve our parishioners and those in our larger community.

As we continue in this process we ask the intercession of our patron saints: the Holy Martyrs of North America, St. Gregory, and St. Jude to guide and help us on our journey of conversion.

tins for more information. In the next segment we will have some statistics from the Parish Survey, including demographics of survey participants and what you told us about your faith journey.

St. Vincent de Paul - We were a little premature requesting lighter clothing in our last request--never was a meterologist--now asking to return to our sweaters, warm jackets, hats, gloves, and "regular Maine spring clothing." Easter week we didn't receive many donations and are hopeful to get back on track with your generous clothing donations. Peace and love to all. Jack Mullin Cumberland/Falmouth Food Pantries - We would very much appreci-ate receiving the following items: cooking oils, tuna fish, baked beans, soups, tomato, chicken and beef, spaghetti, noodles, hamburger helper, coffee, cake mixes, personal hygiene items, shampoo, soap, and toilet tissue. Thank you for your support. God bless you. Jack Mullin Special Request from Yarmouth Food Pantry - There is a real need for dish detergent & laundry detergent. Donations can also be brought to Sacred Heart Church and left in a container in the entrance. 12-Hour, Student-Led, Drive-Through, Food-Drive We need your help. Please join us by donating on Sunday May 6th between 8am and 8pm. We will have students outside Holy Martyrs at the Foreside Road entrance who will unload your car for you. Friendship House Thanks “Be sure to tell everyone how grateful we are!” said the house manager of Friendship House when I delivered the contributions for our April meal for the men.
