Martin McKee, founder of McKee Homes, started building homes in Airdrie in 1987. With each new home he built his reputation and his company, and that company helped build the city we call home. Today, everyone at McKee Homes remains proud of our company’s Airdrie roots, and true to our founder’s values of quality, integrity and honesty.

Daughters Elaine McKee Doel and Grace McKee, and son-in-law Rob Doel (Elaine’s husband) are honoured to continue Martin’s traditions, building quality family homes for our neighbours, and reaching our Mission of “crafting exceptional homes for our valued customers” and our Vision “to be the most highly sought after homebuilder in our chosen markets”.

The “Energy Heel” TrussR50 insulation is used in the flat ceiling areas of your attic. When we talk building code, 4’ away from the exterior wall is the point at which R50 levels are reached, but in your home, we get there right at the wall with the use of 14” high heeled trusses.

All homes are constructed to Energy code 9.36 under the performance modeling guidelineIn your McKee Home, this means your home gets computer modeled prior to permit stage to confirm what the air changes per hour will be and where it should be for overall energy efficiency. Your home is tested for air leaks using a “blower door test” by a Professional Energy Auditor. When completed, you will receive Energuide and Built Green ratings for your home which can be used to apply for CMHC fee credits!

Envelope Sealant Membrane Around Windows And DoorsBlue in colour, Envelope Sealant is a primary barrier to moisture and air penetration at the window to wall interface. The material stays flexible and creates a watertight seal around building openings.

Tyvek House WrapTyvek is a non-perforated and non-woven product that has microscopic pores. This means that it performs as an excellent water and air barrier behind your siding not allowing water or wind from the outside to penetrate your home, so that your insulation can perform to its fully installed R value.

Rough In Plumbing In The Basement We know that you may want to develop this handy space in the future and will help you choose your bathroom location during your design phase and will rough in the underground plumbing for you during construction. It’s a lot easier to do before concrete gets poured!

Heat Recovery Ventilator (HRV)Building with triple glazed windows, high efficient furnaces, high efficient hot water heaters, greater than average insulation and more, its important that the air quality of your home is properly maintained. The HRV is also one of the most effective ways to create energy efficiency in your home.

Vinyl Triple Glazed WindowsYour main floor, upper floor, and walk out area windows (if applicable) are vinyl triple glazed with “Eco Gain 180” Solar Gain glass. Eco Gain 180 provides excellent insulating capability by blocking heat loss to the outside and reflecting heat back into the room. Delta MS Foundation WrapDelta Membrane is a barrier between the soil and concrete which creates a dry feeling basement and eliminates hydrostatic pressure on the wall to ensure potential leaks are avoided.

4” Thick Floating Slab Garage Floor Your garage slab is excavated fully and backfilled with a rock and sand mixture. We know this mixture called pitrun settles slightly and uniformly, as opposed to the traditional methods used in this situation. Rebar is used in the slab but does not get tied into the walls, minimizing the level of cracking which will occur.
