HOMEWORK INSTRUCTIONS HOMEWORK CYCLE
You will be required to complete two homework projects during the academic year. Each project will
span a two-week period and consist of a number of tasks that will take a suggested amount of time to
complete. All tasks will take an estimated 3 hours 10 minutes, which is equivalent to 25-minutes per
week night.
The homework cycle has been put in place to promote independent learning and self-management. It is
for you to decide when you complete each task so long as all tasks are completed by the set deadline.
You will be informed when your homework cycle starts and when the project is to be completed. You
will be using your Class OneNote to complete your homework electronically. The following information
will help you to do so on time and to the best of your ability.
ACCESSING HOMEWORK
Your teacher will distribute your project to you through your OneNote class book. You will receive a
notification on Show My Homework letting you know that it has been set.
Once distributed the tasks will appear on separate pages within the relevant section on your OneNote
class book.
To access the tasks, you just need to click on the relevant task page and the task will be displayed.

Project Tasks
PROJECT TASKS
A task may require you to complete a research activity, plan or design a digital artifact, product a digital
artifact or interact with an online activity. All tasks will require the use of a computer and access to the
Internet.
Each task will give you a suggested time to complete, try not to spend any more time than this
otherwise your project may over run the allocated homework time.
Tasks should be completed directly within your OneNote class book on the page that they have been
given to you. You should not complete any tasks on paper or produce alternative electronic documents.
SUBMITTING THE PROJECT
You do not need to submit the project or individual tasks. Your teacher has access to your OneNote
class book and can see all the work you do at any time. OneNote automatically saves whilst you make
changes.
During the two-week cycle your teacher may remind you during lessons if you have yet to complete any
of the tasks in order to manage your time effectively.
HOMEWORK ASSESSMENT
Your project will be assessed in two ways; by yourself - self-assessment and by your teacher- teacher
assessment.
Before starting the homework cycle you will be aware of your current threshold level and the Learning
Pathway you are following. During the homework cycle you will also follow this pathway. At the start of

the Homework Cycle section on the introduction page you will see how the project will be assessed by
your teacher and the criteria you will need to meet in order to achieve your threshold level.
Each task will also have the assessment criteria for each pathway so you can clearly identify what you
need to accomplish to reach your threshold level.

SELF-ASSESSMENT
At the start of the project you should familiarise yourself with the threshold level expectations for the
Learning Pathway you are following.
After completing each task, you should highlight the Pathway criteria you feel you have met. Always try
to exceed your own expectations.
At the end of the project you will need to complete the review task. During this task you will need to
assess your work across all tasks against the project assessment criteria. You should highlight each
threshold band and could revisit previous task assessments to do this. You will then need to evaluate
your work and review your own progress.
TEACHER ASSESSMENT
Although your teacher may periodically check to see if you are completing your project during the
homework cycle they will not mark the tasks until after the project deadline. This will allow you to work
through the tasks in any order you wish and also return to tasks you would like to improve.
Once the project deadline has been reached your teacher will look at each of the tasks you have
completed and leave feedback at the end of the project in the form of a teachers comment on the
Review page.
HOMEWORK SUPPORT
You will be expected to complete all of the homework tasks electronically within your OneNote class
book. You may also need access to the Internet to complete some tasks and use of different software
packages. All of the software that you may need to use will be available to you via Remote Desktop,
however, if you not have access to the Internet please ensure you speak to your teacher and attend
homework club.
HOMEWORK CLUB
During the two-week homework cycle, homework club will be running every lunchtime in the B-Block
from 13:15 until 13:40 and after-school on a Tuesday and Thursday from 15:10 until 16:00. A teacher will
be available to help you access your homework and provide any addition support you may need.
Priority will be given to student who do not have access to computing or Internet facilities at home.
Please also remember the library will be available to you where you can also use a laptop and the
Internet. Please check with Mrs. Evan, the Librarian for more details regarding the use of the library.
