Summary

This deliverable D2.2 refers to task 2.2 (Development of the project identity and website (M1-6)).

It summarises the development of the project’s corporate identity, including the logo and communication templates. These will ensure a common graphic/visual line to be easily recognised among external stakeholders. It also explains the development of the website. The public facing website will be a portal for information about the project. The extranet is a private area to enhance communication and sharing between project partners.

1. Identity A visual identity for RICHFIELDS has been developed to ensure a common graphic/visual line. The

identity comprises a logo and a graphic framework that will provide visibility and recognisability to

the project throughout its communication efforts.

1.1. RICHFIELDS project logo The RICHFIELDS project logo (Figure 1) was developed based on themes of the project (data,

platform, consumer food behaviour).

Abstract variations of the themes (Figures 2, 3, 4) were presented to the consortium through the

internal platform (Basecamp). The consortium voted 15-17 February 2016, on Survey Monkey,

selecting Figure 1 as the favourite design.

The open cloud symbolises the data platform (cloud) to be designed by RICHFIELDS. The plug

indicates “connection” of the platform (connecting researchers and other end-users to the data, to

other RIs, etc.). The fork signifies food-related consumer behaviour (data), feeding the platform.

The consortium voted -11 April 2016, on Survey Monkey, selecting the favourite headline and slogan

to accompany the logo on the project communications:

Food | Consumer | Health Designing a world-class infrastructure to facilitate research on food-related consumer behaviour In discussion with the coordinator the slogan was shortened, for greater impact: Food | Consumer | Health Designing a world-class infrastructure to facilitate research 1.2. Templates The project logo (Figure 1) was the point of reference for designing the communication templates (Word, poster, PowerPoint – see Figure 2). The templates aim to achieve a consistent project identity within the consortium as well as awareness and recognition among external stakeholders. The project logo, EU flag graphic and funding disclaimer (contract number) is displayed on all templates. All project partners are encouraged to use the templates in all communication about the project. Figure 2. Screenshot of developed templates (PowerPoint slides Word document, scientific poster) A graphic for including the project logo in an email signature has also been created, to direct email contacts to the project’s website (Figure 3).

2. External website

The external website is accessible to everyone. It is the main information resource of the project (describing project objectives, research areas, outcomes and partners). RICHFIELDS public website has been registered at: www.richfields.eu. From the beginning of the project (M1, 11 Sep 2015) a temporary website was created.

Figure 2. Screenshot of temporary project website (M1-6) A new website was then developed to be aligned with the RICHFIELDS identity with a fresh, professional clean look and additional functionality, such as an e-newsletter. The new website went live 28 April 2016 (M7).

Figure 3. Screenshot of new website (before live M6) The website will be hosted for the duration of the project, plus three years after completion of the project. It will coordinated by EUFIC and updated with the help of all partners. 1. Internal platform

Basecamp was selected as the internal platform (restricted area), designed and used to share project documents (e.g. working papers, deliverable reports, calendar of events) and results amongst project partners. The Project Advisory Board and European Commission officers will also be given access to the extranet. Basecamp is a project management software. It is a functional and user-friendly tool that allows internal communication among the whole project, groups within (e.g. at phase or WP level), or even between individuals. The calendar (schedule) is being used to track internal and external events relevant for RICHFIELDS. It is also a repository of documents. It is possible to reply and add attachments straight from email without the need to log-in.
