I am delighted to announce that Miss Hudson is expecting a baby! Anna and her husband are looking forward to the birth of their first child in September, so Miss Hudson will be teaching Year 2 to the end of this ac- ademic year. We will be advertising for a teacher to cover the maternity period. I would like to wish the Merrick family a safe move and a happy future in Hove. We will miss Edward from Year 3 and mum Sophie, a school governor. Sophie has been a committed member of the governing body, playing an important role in the development of the school website. Thank you Sophie. Dad Rob has also been a big help, particularly handy with a paint brush! Good luck to you all and keep in touch! Edward with some of his closest friends. Reception Fundraising

On Thursday, reception class participated in a sponsored nursery rhyme sing song and coffee session. They managed to sing fifteen songs in two minutes.

Max B raised the most amount of money during the sponsor and as you can see, he was delighted with his Easter box full of goodies as a big thank you for this.

A huge thank you to all the parents who came along and all those who gave generously. We managed to raise a massive £433.60! All of this money will go towards the redevelopment of the reception outdoor area.

This term alone we have raised just shy of £1,000! This means that we are getting closer to being able to install the new dou-ble doors leading to the outside area. We are extremely grate-ful for all the support we are receiving for this. Please see Tracey Draper for information on up and coming raffle prizes.

There is still plenty of time to donate if you have not yet and would still like to. Please visit http://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/horsmondenearlyyears

A big thank you to Mr Slaughter (Ethan and Lewis's Dad) for the lovely new shed from Passmores. We are using the shed for bike storage. The shed is big enough to fit all the children inside!

FoHPS News

Godstone Farm

The weather was fantastic and for some children it was the first time that they had been to a farm.

All the children had a great time and learnt lots of facts about the animals on the farm and what products they give us. They also took part in an animal handling session with Shelby the naughty escaping chicken. Thank you to all the parents who helped out on the trip and well done to Max B's mum who con-quered her fear of coaches!

Austin said "My favourite part of the trip was the tractor ride and stroking the chicken"

Maddie said "The sheep's wool was soft and smelly"

Leo said "The mummy sheep is a ewe and the daddy sheep is a ram"

Year 3 treated us to a wonderful, fact-filled assem-bly on Wednesday. Everyone found out such a lot about Ancient Greece! The children have had a lot of fun with this topic and had some wonderful learn-ing to share.

Year 3 Assembly

Page 3

Easter Assembly Year 5 led a fantastic Easter assembly this morn-ing. They retold the Easter Story in a way that even the youngest children could understand and told us how Christian’s across the world cel-ebrate Easter. Each class joined in with songs, art work and readings. Well done Year 5!

Year 4 Museum Trip

Breakfast/After School Club

We are hoping to give Breakfast and After

School Club a revamp after Easter and would

welcome donations of large pots and pans,

oven-proof dishes, toys and games. If you

have anything that you think may be useful,

please bring in to the school office.

Queries about wrap-around care should now

be directed to the Mrs Dodd or Mrs Stokes:

Thank you.

Year 4 visited the Tunbridge Wells Museum to-

day. We got books to write in and learnt about the

meaning of art, mainly about John Smart. He

made pictures with left-over felt. We were split

into groups and did activities including sticky fab-

ric, tracing paper, dressing up, looking at pictures

and writing poems. We also looked at 1980 fashion

in the museum and saw a giant doll’s house with

lights and everything—exactly like the real thing!

Science Museum: Year 5 Trip

Year 5 visited the Science Museum in London on Monday. There was so much to see that the children had to decide their preferred exhibits. Most visited Flight, Space and Ma-terials (taking the opportunity to cross the glass bridge); many visited All About Me and found out about themselves through a range of interactive activities. We all watched a 3D film called ‘Our Beautiful Planet’ in the iMax cinema and, of course, visited the shop. Everyone agreed that it was a fantastic day!
