    Tronoh, 22nd September Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS Performing Arts Group (UPAG)brought backvictory from Festari Tari 2012 after competing with four professional and amateurteams. The competition was organized by Jabatan Kebudayaan dan Kesenian Negara, Perak andPersatuan Permainan Tradisional Serantau (PEWARIS) at Auditorium Kompleks JabatanKebudayaan dan Kesenian Negara negeri Perak.

    Besides taking home the victory, UPAG also won the Best Costume Award. Their victory has won

    them a trip to Cheon An, Korea to compete for the international dance competition organised by the

    department of tourism, Korea.

    Shakhnolza had also represented UTP and won third place in

    UTARs run.

    With the theme Together We Run, UTP Run was held in

    collaboration with MPPUTP, UTPRRT (UTP Road Runners

    Team ), and the Student Support Services Department. The winners

    each receive RM250 worth of cash, Figos Merchandise and a

    voucher for Dominos Pizza.

    Tronoh, 6th October AlmuralAldelkreem Saeed Rabih (PGpostgraduate, 1st year 3rd sem) crossedthe finishing line at ChancellorComplex with only one thing on hismind and that is to win for hiscountry, Sudan. The crowd applaudedhim as he became the first championof UTP Run which was the inauguralofficial run held in UTP.

    Elated with his victory, AlmuralAldelkreem said, I joined UTP run

    because I heard this competition isopen to all, giving me a widercompetition. I participate in a lot ofevents just to meet new and differentpeople.

    Meanwhile, the womens category

    champion title was swept by UTP-ian,Shakhnolza Khamdamova (PE, 1styear) who had an unexpected wineven though she had a 10 minutesdelay. She commented that the racewas a different experience as shenever ran on a major road before.

    Sportspersons, your chance to shine beyond university level has finally come! The first and largest national intervarsity sportsevent, Sukan Institusi Pengajian Tinggi (SUKIPT) will be happening from the 28 th October-11th November 2012 at variouslocations in the Klang Valley. Time and venue will be assigned according to various sports categories. Hosted by the HigherEducation Ministry and jointly organised with Malaysian Universities Sports Council (Masum), Polytechnics Sports Council(MSP), Community Colleges Sports Council (Maskom) and Private Institutions Sports Council (Masiswa) , SUKIPT byfar, has a total of 97 participating universities competing to win a chance at representing Malaysia at the upcoming AseanUniversity Games (AUG) in Laos and Universiade 2013. UTP-ians are encouraged to be a part of this great national sportsmovement whether to volunteer, participate or even just to cheer on your friends .     the American Society of MechanicalEngineers (ASME), English Language Club(ELC), International Culture Club (ICC), TheSociety of Petroleum Engineers (SPE),Institute of Engineers Malaysia (IEM), UTP

    Robotics Society (PETROBOTS) and manymore. Apart from that, the student bodies ofUTP comprising of Friends of IRC (FIRC),Sekretariat Rakan Muda (SRM), ResidentialCollege Support Unit (RCSU) and MPPUTPhad booths to keep students updated onupcoming events.

    A martial arts demonstration was performedby the Aikido Club, International MuaythaiClub and Taekwondo Club in which excellentskills in self-protection were displayed by theirmembers. In addition, activities such as luckydraw, games and paintball matches added

    excitement to the event. There was also a flashmob dance performance given by members ofAIESEC in conjunction with its upcomingevents that focuses on HIV/AIDS andexchange programs. Furthermore, there were

    vendors at the event promoting and sellingtheir products such as clothes, food, drinksand computer gadgets.

    management of UTP, all presidents of clubs

    and societies, and parties who had directly or

    indirectly contributed to the success of MMK

    He also expressed hope that the event could be

    held in a larger scale in future.

    Kampus (MMK), Students RepresentativeCouncil (MPPUTP). For the first time ever,the event took place at Pocket C foyer and washeld for three days. It was organized to attractstudents active involvement in clubs andsocieties as well as to increase awarenessamongst students about the happenings oncampus. Moreover, the event was held there to

    promote Pocket C Student Centre to studentsespecially those from the new intake.

    RACUTP Installation & Induction Night 2012

    sem). The ex-president of RACUTP, RitchiLim (CE, internship) installed the newpresident, Tan Loo Sen (CE, 2nd year/2ndsem) who in turn inaugurated the newcommittee members of the coming year.

    The event was attended by representativesfrom Rotary Club of Kinta, Rotaract Clubsof Subang, Kelana Jaya and Penang, and

    not to mention the Rotaract members ofRACUTP itself. Club advisor, RotarianArthur Yeong and Mr Zulkarnan B Abdul,Manager of Corporate Relation Public

    Affairs of UTP and President of the RotaryClub of Kinta was also present.

    Lastly, the president also inducted newmembers of RACUTP who had joinedrecently. In his addressing speech,President Tan expressed hope that the newboard of committees will do well in lendinga helping hand to the needy as the motto ofthe club goes, that is Service Above Self.

    opened Kinta Riverfront Hotel, UTPsRotaract Club (RACUTP) Installation andInduction Night 2012 received anoverwhelming response from UTP-ians whotravelled all the way from Tronoh to celebratethe night. Highlights include a duet by TeohMing Miin (ICT,1st year/2nd sem) and BenjaminKueh (CE,1st year/2nd sem) plus a Gangnam

    style dance performed by the organizingchairman, Tan Kien Yoong. (CE, 2nd year/2nd
