Our ancillary tasks suits our chick flick genre film trailer. I think this is because we have used the same characters and the use of layout and colour scheme suggest a girly stereotype.

Teaser Poster InspirationWhen creating the teaser poster we used inspirational images as a baseline comparison, we wanted to represent all characters like they have in the Mean Girls and St Trinians posters as a group. However all posters show one character is the main character, the two inspirational posters have placed the main character in the centre. We have challenged the codes and conventions of posters by placing our main character on the far left.

Inspirational ImagesFor the introduction of characters we used this picture, we wanted to show all characters in comparison to show their geeky traits, and Sam’s popular look. An Inspirational image was the skins character poster it shows all characters showing their personality such as anger from character Katy. The reason for these posters is to show a comparison between actors.

Film Magazine

Use of font in this is bold to really catch the readers attention, it’s also a pink and black colour scheme to really convey our chick flick genre. I put the title of the film at the bottom of the page in an eye catching college style writing that is found on school hoodies! The master head is at the top of the page you to conform to the codes and conventions of a magazine.

The image clearly displays that Sam is the main character we can see this from the other poster as she is the main element. Her positioning symmetrically in the middle really structures the piece. Sam has similar poses in the trailer however she does not give direct eye contact to the camera so this poster does differ from the trailer. I also altered some of the picture to show a contrast from the background and to really make the pink in her dress stand out.

Teaser Poster

We started cuttingaround the actresses and putting them in a new layer, which let me smooth out the background so it was fully clear. We also added a shadow to the models layer to create a 3D feel. For the title we used Princetown LET as its a font regularly shown in schools, which I too used a shadow to make it stand out more. It is in the same colour as Sam's dress to make it clear that she is the main character

How they link to the video?

They link to the video, as I have tried to include the same colour scheme we used for our ancillary texts of pinks, blacks and whites and silvers. This was to show a consistency over different media forms. We have also made characters wear the same style of clothing so their look and fashion sense does not differ over the different media forms.

Conclusion and how well they worked?

I think our ancillary texts and our video work well as a combination as they both target the specific audience we chose ( Teenage Girls ). We can see the narrative from the posters as Sam is either shown on the poster on her own or slightly out casted from the others. We have placed her this way on the posters to show does she belong with these other characters? Which is what the whole plot of the film is based around which the trailer clearly shows. They all work together because of the consistency of the media products as they all have the same colour schemes, actors and show the same narrative. All media products clarify the plot, and the relationship between actors.
