How to Build a Bookshelf

Getting Started
Draft a plan
Size
Shape
Design
Tools
Table Saw
Normal wood saw blade
Dado blade
Wood glue
Paint brush
Materials
Pine boards
or
Oak boards
Stain or clear coat.
Assembly
Cut wood to desired length.
2 sides
1 top
Number of levels desired
Assembly
Cut rabbit joints (see drawings)
Cut the side boards for the shelving and the top.
Cut the top board to fit the side boards
Assembly
Apply glue where the boards will be jointed together.
make sure all pieces fit together properly before applying the glue
Assembly
Wipe excess glue away from joints with a damp paper towel.
Let glue dry for a minimum of 24 hours
Finish work
Apply the stain or clear coat.
Make sure not to leave any bubbles
Let dry over night and add as many coats as desired.
