Configuration Note 1. Introduction
Version 2.40 7 November 2012
1 Introduction The SIP Phone Support (SPS) system allows you to use your phone as a normal extension, such as calling other extensions, calling outside lines, and receiving incoming calls. The SPS system also provides advanced capabilities to manage your extension, using special dial codes, such as setting your extension to busy, dialing your voicemail etc. This document describes the procedures for installing the SPS application on a virtual machine on the Mediant 1000B Gateway and E-SBC OSN module with the pre-installed SBA application. This enables the optimization of the OSN host resources. Previously separate OSN modules were required to run each of these respective applications.

Configuration Note 4. Obtaining the IP Address of the Virtual Machine
Version 2.40 23 November 2012
4 Obtaining the IP Address of the Virtual Machine The procedure in this section describes how to determine the IP address of the newly created SPS virtual machine. Once you determine this IP address, you can connect directly to the virtual machine via the remote desktop and then perform the SPS installation.
To determine the IP address of the SPS virtual machine: 1. In the Hyper-V Manager, in the Virtual Machines table, right-click the newly created
SPS virtual machine entry, and then from the shortcut menu, choose Connect:

Configuration Note 5. Optimizing the OSN Module CPU Load
Version 2.40 27 November 2012
5 Optimizing the OSN Module CPU Load When both the SPS and SBA applications are installed on t he same OSN module, the OSN central processing unit (CPU) and other system resources are shared between these two software applications. Consequently the need arises to optimize the OSN module CPU load. This section describes essential procedures that significantly optimize the CPU load, as well as maximize the number of concurrent calls supported by the SPS application.
To optimize the OSN CPU load: 1. As the SPS operates only with the G.711U-law voice codec, set the
gateway to operate with G.711U-law towards the SBA. a. Open the Mediant 1000B Gateway and E-SBC embedded Web server. b. Open the 'Coders' page (Configuration tab > VoIP menu > Coders And
Profiles sub-menu > Coders).
Figure 5-1: Coders Table
c. From the 'Coder Name' drop-down list, select the G.711U-law coder. d. Click Submit.
2. Ensure that the Microsoft Lync Server 2010 is configured to operate with Media Bypass (i.e. RTP media bypasses the Mediation Server on the SBA). a. In the Microsoft Lync Server 2010 Navigation pane, select the Voice Routing
option. b. In the Voice Routing menu, at the top of the page, select the Trunk
Configuration option.
Configuration Note 28 Document #: LTRT-00823

Figure 5-2: Enable Media Bypass on Lync Server 2010
c. Ensure that the Enable media bypass option is selected.
Note: Ensure the following:
• In the Topology Builder, set the SIP Transport Protocol parameter to 'TLS'.
• In the Web server, configure TLS and SRTP.
For more information, refer to the Mediant 1000B SBA for Lync 2010 Installation Manual.
3. On the SPS core, enable Media Bypass for incoming calls to the SPS from
the gateway: a. Add the following parameter to the SpsLync.exe.config file located in
C:\Program Files\Audiocodes\SPS\SPS Core\SpsLync.exe.config: MediationServerMediaBypassDisable="false"
b. Reset the SPS core service. 4. Verify in the log files that the system is operating properly; incoming calls
bypass the SBA Mediation Server, and no transcoding occurs on the SBA Mediation Server and SPS for both call directions (to and from PSTN).
Configuration Note 6. Installing the SPS on the Virtual Machine
Version 2.40 29 November 2012
6 Installing the SPS on the Virtual Machine The procedure for installing the SPS application is described in the document LTRT-28800 SPS Lync Initial Startup Procedure.
Note: You must install the SPS via the Remote Desktop Connection using the
IP address that you obtained in Section 4 on page 23. The default user name and password is “Administrator” (local administrator) and “123456” respectively.
