SIZE

The Battery Council International (BCI) uses a number called group size to identify the height, length and width of numerous original equipment sizes.

POWER

Consider the power requirements of your vehicle. Remember, there are two ratings which are vital – CCA and RC.

POWER

The Cold Cranking Amps (CCA) measures the cranking power a battery has available to start a car's engine at 0°F.

This is critical especially if you live in a cold climate.

The higher the number, the greater the starting power of the battery.

Never use a battery with a CCA lower thanthe manufacturer's recommendation.

Neither should you choose a battery with aCCA level much higher as this might

result in reduced battery life.

The Reserve Capacity (RC) represents the length of timethe battery can maintain the vehicle's electrical

needs without the engine turned on or if the alternator fails.

Battery Council International defines Reserve Capacity as a measure of the time (in minutes) a lead-acid battery can deliver 25 amps at 80°F and maintain terminal voltage of at least 1.75 volts/ cell (battery voltage of 10.5 volts).

In general, the higher the minute rating, the greater the battery’s ability to run your lights, CD players, radio, and other accessories with the vehicle

off before recharging is necessary.
