Before that, I guess it’s important to define what ‘stupidity’ is. Is it a politician making uncalled, racistremarks? Instagrammers with stupid hashtags? Failing at calculus? Or a crazed tudung lady yelling andbullying an elderly?

Don’t be fast to judge someone as that itself is an act of stupidity. The same way a mathgeekisn’t necessary intelligent, someone who doesn’t know how to use Excel isn’t necessary stupid.
As a rule of thumb, you cannot penalise someone for not knowing something. “Those who don’tunderstand will never understand. But that’s actually alright. What’s worse is, when they pretend theydo.” Consider those wise words from Wayne Lee (the founder of JUICE Singapore) – no doubt inspiredby the overabundance of Lion City hipsters.
Stupid people are just plain annoying. Those who do not think before saying or doing something, cansometimes irk us. But instead of combusting into an explosion of raging emotions, it is better to tolerate itand let it pass.
The first slap, sorry, step is always to lower your expectation and adjust your perspective. Don’t expecteveryone to be as smart as you, your closest friends and the people you respect. Remind yourself that “theaverage joe” is simple, yet grounded. The only exception to this is while you’re driving. EVERYONE onthe road is an idiot! Anyone who tells you otherwise, is an idiot and should have their license revoked.
Secondly, you have to understand that sometimes you won’t be able to change their minds. While youmay have very valid and logical opinions on a matter, you won’t be able to convince thestupid/cocky/hipster about your views easily.
Thirdly, controversial topics draw a cesspool of opinionated retards. These are people who bring upcontroversial topics and proceed to share their particularly dumb opinion on it. Friend, resist the urge tojump in and prove them wrong, lest you be drawn into an eternal conflict of trying to prove logic andreason with someone that has the intellectual capabilities of a spoon.
Finally, never take it personally. Sometimes, things are said and done to intentionally hurt you and youcan’t let them get to you. Try to be positive and give that person the benefit of the doubt. Never complainto anyone about it otherwise suffer the fate of drawing others of the same like into this predicament. Justbe respectful whenever possible and treat someone as a human being. Be grateful for all the smart peoplein your life, including you. But then again, there might be people out there who don’t think YOU are verysmart, and that can’t be true can it?
