How to use J2E to share work with your teachers – a pupil & parent guide For some pieces of home learning, you will be encouraged to share your work with your teachers using J2E. This will then mean your teachers will be able to give you some individual feedback about what you have done at home. To help you do this, we have created this user guide with some reminders for you about how best to use the website. In order to access your account, visit www.j2e.com. You should then see the following sign in page: In the ‘school’ box, you need to type westacre. Your username will follow the following format: If you are in Year 5, it will be 19 followed by your first initial then your surname (e.g. 19JBloggs) If you are in Year 6, it will be your first initial then your surname followed by 18 (e.g. JBloggs18) If you are in Year 7, it will be your first initial then your surname followed by 17 (e.g. JBloggs17) To help us simplify the sharing of the login information to everyone, we have reset everyone’s password to be westacre. Type in the above information then click on the green ‘sign in’ button. This will take you to the J2Launch page as follows: You will see from the top right hand corner that we have logged in this time as Joe Bloggs – a Year 5 pupil!

How to use J2E to share work with your teachers – a pupil & parent guide

For some pieces of home learning, you will be encouraged to share your work with your teachers using J2E. This will

then mean your teachers will be able to give you some individual feedback about what you have done at home. To

help you do this, we have created this user guide with some reminders for you about how best to use the website.

In order to access your account, visit www.j2e.com. You should then see the following sign in page:

In the ‘school’ box, you need to type westacre.

Your username will follow the following format:

If you are in Year 5, it will be 19 followed by your first initial then your surname (e.g. 19JBloggs)

If you are in Year 6, it will be your first initial then your surname followed by 18 (e.g. JBloggs18)

If you are in Year 7, it will be your first initial then your surname followed by 17 (e.g. JBloggs17)

To help us simplify the sharing of the login information to everyone, we have reset everyone’s password to be

westacre.

Type in the above information then click on the green ‘sign in’ button. This will take you to the J2Launch page as

follows:

You will see from the top right hand corner that we have logged in this time as Joe Bloggs – a Year 5 pupil!

Page 2: How to use J2E to share work with your teachers a pupil ... · Remember to choose a suitable name for your file (it doesnt need to include your own name as it gets saved in your own

To change your password, click on your username in the top right hand corner to get the following box to appear:

Then select ‘my settings’ which will bring up the following box:

Clicking on the ‘change password’ button will enable you to change your password to something more unique as

below:

In the ‘your password’ box this will be the westacre password you used to log in at the start. Then you type your

chosen new password twice (make sure you type it exactly the same both times and exactly how you want it to be –

be careful with caps lock!). Remember to choose something memorable and not to share it with anyone else (apart

from maybe your parents). Simply click the ‘ok’ button to save your new password then the X in the top right hand

corner of the two boxes that have appeared to go back to the J2Launch page.

From this page, you have lots of tabs to choose from – feel free to explore and see what you can do and learn! In

order to type up the home learning that you have been asked to do, you will need to click on the red j2e5 tab (in the

top row of this example – yours may look different if you’ve edited it during your time at Westacre). This takes you

to the j2e5 page, where you can do your word processing:

In here, you can type your work and edit / format your page however you wish (using the tools across the top and

down the right hand side). For example:

Page 4: How to use J2E to share work with your teachers a pupil ... · Remember to choose a suitable name for your file (it doesnt need to include your own name as it gets saved in your own

As you type your work, remember to save it at regular intervals (the third red icon in the top left corner of the screen

is what to click to save):

Remember to choose a suitable name for your file (it doesn’t need to include your own name as it gets saved in your

own personal space on the j2e cloud anyway) then click on the ‘save’ button. When your work is complete, save it

one last time.

In order to send your work to your teacher, you then need to share it with them. To do this, click on the icon with

the two blue / purple people (top row, third from the right). This brings up the following screen:

Page 5: How to use J2E to share work with your teachers a pupil ... · Remember to choose a suitable name for your file (it doesnt need to include your own name as it gets saved in your own

In the ‘shared with’ box, you need to get the name of the teacher you want to show your work to appear. There

should be two different ways of doing this:

1. Type in their username (eg JRiddleston, BPage, PCotton) then click where the username appears:

Clicking on the ‘add’ button to the right is all you then need to do to share your work with them. When the

teacher’s name appears below the box, you know it has worked (see the example below where the page has

now been shared with Mrs Adey – username RAdey):

Page 6: How to use J2E to share work with your teachers a pupil ... · Remember to choose a suitable name for your file (it doesnt need to include your own name as it gets saved in your own

2. Alternatively, you can click on the icon with the two triangles (to the left of the ‘add’ button) to help you find

the name of your teacher (best way if you’re not sure of their username!). This will bring up the following

box:

From here hover (don’t click!) over the word ‘users’ and the following list appears:

From this list, you should be able to find the teacher you want to send your work to. Click on their name and

their name will appear just like Mr Dinsley’s name has below (showing you that you have shared your work

with them):

Page 7: How to use J2E to share work with your teachers a pupil ... · Remember to choose a suitable name for your file (it doesnt need to include your own name as it gets saved in your own

You have now done everything you need to! Just click the x in the top right corner of this box to close it then

you can sign out of j2e (or of course try out some of the other fun learning tabs in J2Launch!)

If this is a piece of work that you have been asked to share via j2e, your teacher will have a look at your page

in the few days after it was set / due in. Then you should be able to log back into j2e to see what they have

said. When you next login and you go to the J2Launch page, check to see if you have any feedback.

In the example above, Joe Bloggs (Year 5 pupil!) has a red circle with the number 2 inside it within the tab

called ‘my files’. This tells us that there are two messages waiting. Click on that tab (in this example it is the

first one on the left of the top row). This will make the following screen appear:

Here, the number 2 within the red speech bubble (above the page created for homework) also tells us that

there are two messages waiting to be read. To read the messages, click on the red speech bubble and you

will see the following:

19JBloggs has received two messages from Mr Barber about their work! If you want to send a reply, this can

be done in the ‘type new message here’ box below. Please remember you will be replying to your teacher

(just like you do in red pen at school) and that they may not see this new message straight away.

Page 8: How to use J2E to share work with your teachers a pupil ... · Remember to choose a suitable name for your file (it doesnt need to include your own name as it gets saved in your own

If you wish to share your work as a photo of learning completed in a book for example, follow the

instructions below:

From the J2Launch page select the Upload tab (in the image below it is the tab on the far right hand side of

the middle row)

Then you should have the following screen:

Here, select Choose Files and open the photo from wherever you have it saved. Once this is done, the ‘share’

option becomes available to you.

Select ‘share’ to get the following screen:

Here you can share the photo with your teacher as normal (read earlier in this guide in you can’t remember).

If you have any further questions, you can of course ask your parents to send an email to

[email protected].
