How we got the Bible
Ever since Eve encountered Satan at the Garden of Eden, mankind has continued to question God’s Word. (Gen. 3:1-7)
Gen 3:1: Serpent: "Did God actually say, 'You shall not eat of any tree in the garden'?" ! ?
Until now, Satan and his many alagads lead people to doubt and confuse God’s Word in their minds.
Is it really wrong to kill?
Did God really say that?
What you read is not true.
Now, the Bible has more than enough content to be interrogated:
66 Books,1,189 Chapters,31, 173 Verses,
774, 746 Words.
When you open your English Bible to read or study, you may have asked “How can I be sure this is the pure and true Word of God?”
Names of the Bible:
-Scriptures-Word of God-The Writings-The Law (of the Lord, of Moses)-Precepts-Old Testament/ New Testament-Prophecy
-Where did the Bible come from?
-Did any books of the Bible get lost in the past?-What does the Bible claims for itself?
-Who wrote the Bible- God or man?
-How did the Bible reached to us?-Who decided that the Bible will be made of 66 books?
The Bible’s self-claims that it is the Word of
God.
Does the Bible claim to be the Word of God? Yes! Over 2,000 times in the Old Testament alone, the Bible asserts that God spoke what is written within its pages.
The phrase “the Word of God” occurs over 40 times in the New Testament. It is equated with the Old Testament (Mark 7:13).
Jesus preached it. (Luke 5:1)
“On one occasion, while the crowd was pressing in on him to hear the word of God”
-it was what the Apostles preached
-it was what the Samaritans received
-it was what the Gentiles received
-it was what Paul preached to Europe
-Psalm 19 and 119 are fully dedicated to the Word of God alone
-The Bible is set apart from any religious instruction ever known in the history of mankind
-God’s Word declares that it is inerrant (without error).
-God’s Word declares that it is infallible (cannot fail).
In other words, it is true and trustworthy.
It’s because of the fact that Scripture is God-given (2 Peter 1:20-21)
Its quality is guaranteed because of its Source and its original writing.
The Person of God and the Word of God cannot be separated.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John 1:1
God is true, unchangeable, and reliable, so is His Word.
How a person thinks of God’s Word, in reality, reflects how he thinks about God.
This is the demand of Scripture to its readers:“And he humbled you and let you hunger and fed you with manna, which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that he might make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD.” -Deuteronomy 8:3
This is the demand of Scripture to its readers:
“I have not departed from the commandment of his lips; I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my portion of food.” –Job 23:12
