EvaporationThe sun heats upwater and makes itevaporate and riseinto the air as watervapour. That's whypuddlesdisappearon a hotday.
CondensationAs the water vapourrises, it cools andcondenses to form
water droplets.Clouds are formedwhen water dropletsand pieces of dustjoin together.
PrecipitationThe water falls backto Earth as rain, sleet, snow or hail. The word"precipitation"comesfrom Latinand means"falling".
Sources of waterYorkshire Water takeswater from rivers andfrom wellscalledboreholes. It alsostores water inhuge artificiallakes called reservoirs.

Water needs to betreated to make it safeto drink. At the watertreatment worksthe"baddies" areremovedfrom thewater.
Piping in and outWater comes to yourhouse through pipescalled mains. Whenyou have used thewater, it goes intoanother setof pipescalledsewers.
Sewage Treatment Works
The dirty water(called sewage) needsto be treated toremove other "bad-dies" before it is safeto be returned to thewatercycle.
