HSBC's Custody and Clearing With a global network across Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, Europe and the Americas, the award-winning Sub-Custody and Clearing business of HSBC Securities Services (HSS) is committed to bringing best practices, state-of-the-art technology, and operational efficiencies to clients worldwide. HSBC's Sub-Custody and Clearing business operates in 39 markets providing world-class services to global custodians, fund managers and broker dealers in all territories and countries where HSBC has a presence. HSS has the most comprehensive network of any bank in the Middle East with its presence in 11 regional markets. Through our involvement we played an active role in the development of the markets from their start-up to maturity. HSBC first opened its doors for business in Qatar in 1954. As the largest international bank in the country HSBC has a history of milestones including the installation of the first ATM, the first bank to introduce Custody and Clearing and the first bank to introduce an investment banking platform. HSBC has been providing sub-custody and clearing services to foreign clients in Qatar since December 1998, when the market first opened to foreign investors. As a business, we have a diverse client base, including international broker dealers, global custodians and government agencies. Our international experience in the custody business, as well as a diversified client base enables us to anticipate client requirements and provide matching service levels. Our client base in Qatar includes some of the world's largest global custodians and their satisfaction with our services are reflected in their Number 1 rating in Global Custodian magazine's Review of Agent Banks in Emerging Market. We have consistently won awards in recognition of our contribution to the industry and in servicing our clients. Some of the latest awards include: - In 2013, HSBC was ranked Number 1 in 8 different countries across the Middle East and Africa in the weighted category in the Global Investor Sub-Custodian survey. - MENA Fund Manager Award as best Sub-custodian for the year 2013. - In 2012, Global Finance has awarded HSBC as best Sub-custodian in the Middle East. In the same year, Global Finance also awarded the Best Sub-Custodian award to HSBC in 8 different countries across the MENA region. - Top rated and Commended in 8 different countries in the 2012 Global Custodian Review of Agent Banks in Emerging Markets survey in the Cross-Border and Leading Clients categories.
