A Black StorkIn Arribes del DueroA black stork lives.
She is the beautiful one,Because only she is my heart.
She eats little insects,The most delicious ones.
Red beak, red legs,Like my heated blood.
Black body,Like the coal from the Three Wise Men.
She is in danger,The most sensitive bird.
The future’s uncertain,But hope she still has,For she is protected,From people and cars.
She lives in Arribes,The quietest place.
Her nest hidden in places,Mankind forgot.
This bird is endangered,Yes, it is true.
But we still can save her,That is sure too.
Poem: Colegio Público Riomanzanas, Year 6, Zamora Illustration: Javier Rodríguez
Give us back our planet,
HaikusIcebergs are melting. My habitat is changing. I am dying out.
Land getting hotter. My kingdom disappearing. Poor old Polar Bear
To Whom It May ConcernTo whom it may concern,
You’ll miss me when I’m goneFor I am a proud bird
I am the centrepiece of the skyLet me feed again.
If I become extinct Your wake up callWill be no more.
You will never see me glide and flex my wings. Are you concerned?
Let me thrive,Free to roam the skies.
Yours sincerely,
In fresh mountain rain.Like a river rising,
Give Us Back Our PlanetWildlife in Danger

I have nowhere to go

Do something right nowWe know that we can all help
Make a difference Hagamos algo juntos ayudaremos

Wise, knowing,Stomping about.
Chomping the grass,With its slippery mouth.
Powerful and mighty,Ponderous, strong,
King-like with its graceful posture.
Important, peaceful,Walking around.Trunk swishing,Eyes drooping.
Brave, bold,Flopping to the ground.
Lying under a tree, in a shady spot.Bright lights. Deadly shots.Danger, killed for no reason.
Big guns. Sad sights.Poem: Amy Sichel Illustration: Phoebe Tunstill

Put Out Your HandIt’s time to run
Death draws nearHe’s the only one
With everything to fear
The Rhino turnsThrough the grassHe sees the hunter
And the gunshot blasts
Time to fight backMake a stand
Stop this foreverJust put out your hand

We Believe…If appropriate energy decisions are made,Then the environment will be preserved.
If we feel the planet,Then the planet will feel us.
If we recycle more electrical equipment,Then we will create less landfill sites.
If we reuse plastic, glass and paper,Then the earth will be pristine and beautiful.
If we stop polluting the atmosphere with carbon monoxide,Then the earth can breathe once more.
If we don’t waste water,Then there will be no more droughts.
If we consider all these things,Then our planet will be healthy once more.
