Principal’s News
Student Led Conferences were held this week. Thank you to all the families who attended and were able to share in their child’s learning goals and achievements. We are extremely proud of all our learners and we are sure you are too. Regardless of current achievements we are constantly expecting growth and improvement from every student.
Tropical Cyclone Marcus left some damage, destroying several shadecloths and many trees. Thank you to Pancho and Petrina who joined me on Monday to remove branches, clean out fridges and freezers and ensure the school was safe for students to return on Tuesday. Thank you also for the many offers from parents to assist. School Uniforms are available again in all sizes. Contact the Front Office if you require a shirt. A reminder that school uniform consists of the black school shirt, black shorts or skorts and enclosed shoes. Hair longer than shoulder length must be tied back both for safety reasons and of course prevention of the spread of lice. Our wide-brimmed school hat is required during lunch and recess every day. Can you help? Our school trailer ’s floor has rusted through. Do you have the skills to replace the base? Let our Front Office know if you can help. Harmony Day will be held on Thursday 29 March. Students are reminded to bring
a plate to contribute to a shared lunch and dress in either Purple (Epilepsy Awareness),
Orange or Traditional Cultural Dress. A gold coin donation on the day will raise
money towards Epilepsy Awareness.
Preschool carpark, directly outside preschool, is for preschool parents only.
This allows parents with young children easier access to their area.
Attendance is integral to growth, resilience and success at
school. Our challenge to all students to improve attendance has
commenced. Every student who attends every day from
Wednesday 21 March to Friday 6 April (Week 8, 9 and 10) will
enter the draw to win a new bike and helmet! The winner will
be drawn at assembly in Week 11. Thank you to Mr Brenton, Troy,
Seth, Jason and Ryan who assembled our prize.
I wish you all a safe and enjoyable weekend and encourage students to think about something they have grown better at in the last week.

Danila Dilba Health Service School Based Health Checks Humpty Doo Primary School are celebrating Closing the Gap Day by announcing that Danila Dilba Health Service will be working in partnership with our school to provide Deadly Choices and Oral and Hand Hygiene Program for all students. General Health checks will also be available for indigenous students only. We are committed to having happy and healthy students so they have every opportunity to succeed to be proud, persistent and positive contributors of their world. Indigenous students will have the opportunity to have eye and ear checks, blood sugar tests and access referrals to Speech Therapist and Paediatricians. Danila Dilba will be visiting the Humpty Doo Primary School regularly to hold clinics. Students will need to sign a consent form and be approved by Medicare to be eligible for appoint-ments. This will provide students medical services without having to leave school. For more information please contact Ms Melissa Tipo on 89881255 or email:[email protected]
