elcome back to another term at our great university. I assume everyones holidays were extremely boring and unexciting otherwise you would not have returned to the monotonous

predictable routine that is university life. Better luck next time.

As always the break felt infinitely short and re-turning to university on Monday felt like I was only here yesterday. This is going to be a long term.

No use dwelling on the negitives so I’m just going to say it’s great to have you all back. Lets make this final term a huge one. starting with back to school this Wednesday with Children Collide playing at the Crow Bar, many have hyped this will be a huge night.

I’m going to run some competitions in the coming weeks for some free entry tickets to Oktoberfest or Final Fling or both, so keep an eye out for those.

WSo there we have it another term gone and past and another term commeth, the never ending cy-cle that one day we will all break out of, unless you are a university lecturer LOL.

Get down to the events and start submitting your articles / drawings / comics / whatever to the Hungappa.

I’ve had enough. Women drivers. Don’t get me wrong, half of you are great and give me no grief – so I’m cool with you. It’s the rest that are housewives in their goddamn wank chariots – the SUV or 4WD Land Cruiser’s that shit me to no end. Out here in the country (yes I deign to call Wagga ‘Country’) I can see why MAYBE, SOME would need a 4WD. However, like back home in the city, when I see women driv-ing around in these overly large beasts of burden I try not to let it phase me.

“It’s their choice what car they get, nothing to do with me” and halfway through that rationalisation, the same woman in the same car I am trying not to get angry at, cuts me off, slows down and then prevents me from overtaking. At this point – not that it would even matter – they fail to give a wave of sorry, sincere or not. That rustles my jimmies. Sometimes they even go the wrong way around a carpark and steal a spot I was about to go in and then pretend to be French ... I did so well not to take my tyre iron to her face for her igno-rance.

I then go and have a rant to my friends who are good to put up with me, but there is always someone that sees the sexism in what I have to say – “I bet you get cut off by just as many men in 4WD’s and SUV’s as you do women, you never complain about them”. Fact of the matter is, no I am not subjected to horrific driving from men that directly affects me AS OFTEN.

Sure, you get some dickhead who hoons past you every now and then, sure you get someone ahead of you that isn’t indicat-ing and taking their corners a bit wide, but that’s fine, you stay back and don’t get in their way.

Secretarial Spiel The Proverbial

These women in their goddamn iron chari-ots purposefully put themselves in my way because they think that “Even if I do get into an accident, I’ll be fine in my 4WD ... sucks to be the other car though” – and then resume applying make-up, brushing hair and talking on the phone all at the same time.

Also – if you are a member of the Wagga bad parking page I’m sure you will find a number of the cars belong to ... Men. Huh, there you go, we are guilty of some stuff af-ter all! On a similar note, feel free to write in about my narcissistic chauvinism, I never turn away a good ribbing. If it’s particularly good we’ll even publish it as a rebuttal!

Now that I have got that out of my system ... Just a little reminder about the roads around CSU. Let’s not beat around the bush, wombat trails are better than what we have going on here. There was a petition going around last semester that was to be submitted to DFM (Department of Facilities Management) that will hopefully get their attention if enough people sign it.

However, we have since decided that pen and paper petitions are outdated and easy to misplace – so there will be an online petition floating about (this week or next depending how I go with assignments) so please, fill your details in, forward it on to friends and have them forward it on. The more people we can reach with the more impact it will have.

A round-a-bout is set to be put in at the front of the University in the near future, no doubt distrupting traffic when it does.

Secretarial Spiel The Proverbial

No this does not herald the arrival of better roads – but yes, we were prom-ised that while they are at it, the TV Land roundabout will have the roads around it repaired. While we’re in the same ballpark, for more parking on campus we will prob-ably have to pay for it.

The ‘Supersize Me’ documentary demon-strated how a person living a life of un-healthy eating and exercise habits could be badly affected in not only the short-term, but in the long-term if it was to continue.

Life is short, so I believe it is important to try to look after our bodies as best we can. This means less sugar, salt, fat, and addi-tives! - And more natural eating, as well as regular physical activity!

If you’re still not convinced, I suggest you watch the ‘Supersize Me’ documentary. Remember, you are the master of your own destiny!

All things considered, most Universities do pay for their parking and as we don’t, we can’t complain too much. Instead, try riding a bike (just don’t be a wanker and take up a whole lane of traffic), catch the Uni bus or make a combined effort with others and car pool – also people over the hill can start walking again now that the sun is setting later and the days are get-ting warmer.

Next item on the agenda: Rivcoll recently elected some new board members and I am very thankful to be keeping my job as General Secretary (however I am very sad that my friend Tom did not get on ... sorry broseph).

However, we do welcome Hannah Milnes, Melanie Prunster, Saira Hussain, Syed Haris Omar and William Fisher to the board and we appreciate their commitment and future involvement on the board.

This Wednesday the 5th will be a great night! We have Children Collide playing for the low price of $15! This is the cheap-est price on their entire tour, so make sure you come down to the Nosh for a good night before you head off into town. We never fail to get in great acts, so come back, catch up with friends from after your holidays and have a great time at the Crow Bar. Now that the nights are getting shorter and the days are getting warmer you can’t use the “it’s too cold” excuse any-more, so get on down.

Well that should be everything, hope everyone had a great holiday, no broken bones and I hope you are all fresh to start another semester here in Wagga. Get into your study sessions early, start making routines and try to stick to them early so you don’t fall behind – exams are soon on their way and you don’t want to be caught out. For those of you without exams and easy essays before the end of session; I sincerely envy you and will throw eggs at you if I see you.

Speaking of eggs, I am engaged in a prank war with a friend and I would greatly ap-preciate (and so would she) someone writ-ing in with a segment of University Dorm prank ideas! Be original and if I like them I will personally buy you a jug at happy hour this Friday! Take it easy and talk to you soon.

-Rivcoll Gen. Sec. Joshua Schultz.
