Dear Fellow Members:Summer is just about over, the kids are back inschool, and fall is right around the corner. I hopeeveryone had the opportunity to relax over the summer and recharge the mind and spirit! This has been a busy summer for the Club.Members were enjoying their wedding receptionsand rehearsal dinners as well as the numerous special events, which many of you were able to attend. Thank you all for the support of your Club!

I would like to speak a bit about Membership business if I may. During the courseof any given year, your River Club, as all private Clubs do, experiences the loss ofseveral Members a month. This is not due to any dissatisfaction with the Club, but rather to factors such as retirement, health, and relocation and in manyinstances, business or budget cutback considerations. The Members we lose dueto business cutbacks, historically, reinstate their memberships once the budget oreconomic cycle swings back around (as it always does!), but this reinstatementcomes at a cost of significant fees. Club management speaks to each of these particular business Members, to explain the cost of reinstating the Membership. They encourage the business Member to ride out the current situation they arefacing, enjoy their Club, and avoid substantial fees to rejoin at a later date.As you probably know, membership in the River Club is by Invitation Only. Those invitations can ONLY come from you, our current Members. The ongoingaddition of new Members into the Club allows for the replacement of thoseMembers that resign, and enables your Club to provide the wonderful food, service and ambience and events you have come to enjoy, and at a reasonabledues level. I cannot encourage you enough to call Marta Trueax, our MembershipDirector, with the names of your nominees. Besides the benefit of your supportby these nominations, the Club will provide you with a $200.00 Food & BeverageCredit for EACH person that joins. This incentive has always been there, and isnot just a one-time offer. Please read through this edition of the newsletter – it highlights all the eventsgoing on at our Club during September and October. As you will see, there is alot happening and I hope you take the opportunity to bring your friends andfamily and enjoy yourselves. Many thanks, and I hope to see you around theClub soon!Sincerely,FOR THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Alfred J. Hays, PresidentSunday BrunchEnjoy the changing of the season sitting in the Club’sdining room overlooking the Chattahoochee River.Surround yourself with family and friends and feast on adelicious meal only the River Club could offer.

    Cooking with ChefThursday, October 20th 4:00 - 5:30 P.M.Pâté and Terrines

French for pie, pâté refers to various elegant, well-seasoned ground-meatpreparations. A pâté can be satiny-smooth and spreadable or, like countrypâté, coarsely textured. It can be made from a finely ground or chunckymixture of meats (such as pork, veal, liver or ham), fish poultry, game orvegetables. Pâtés may be cooked in a fat-lined container called a terrine, in which they are called pâté en terrine. Tradition has it where it is a pâté when unmolded and a terrine when in a mold.Join Chef for an interesting class on these fabulous dishes andenjoy the tasting afterwards!$9.95++ Per PersonIncludes food tasting and an aperitif. Limited reservations available.
