SERVE THE PURPOSE
Pelago contributes to cycling with functional, aesthetic and strong products. We are an independent company rooted in the Helsinki pavement, but approach cycling from greater context. We learned our lessons from digging out parts from junkyards, working at local service shops, studying bikes at uni. We grew out of the streets and the backcountry to contribute products that we wanted to ride and be proud of — distinctive bicycles we hope you enjoy as much as we do — bikes that serve the purpose.

We believe in optimism. Sustainability and posi-tive actions for better are a common effort. It’s not about what you buy — it’s what you make. It’s about what you do at work. Small things matter — and we wanted to contribute. We try not to take bikes too seriously, but enjoy the ride with others.

The name Pelago is a shortening of ‘archipelago’ and a reference to one of the most beautiful land-scapes in our homeland of Finland. The unspoiled and rugged beauty of the islands of the Archipelago Sea has fundamentally affected our approach. To cope with the elements you learn to appreciate well-made, well-designed products. THE BICYCLESThe Pelago range consists of urban utility bicycles, active lightweight models, advan-ced all-terrain commuters and multipurpo-se road and trekking bicycles.
Our basic models, Brooklyn and Bristol are traditional and robust high tensile steel framed bicycles with hub gears and a comfortable upright riding position for short to mid dis-tance cycling. These bicycles are among the most popular models which have been in production since the beginning.
Capri and San Sebastian are lightweight and simple bicycles for the contemporary taste. A matured approach to street cycling makes these bicycles true modern classics.
Airisto and Hanko are for sophisticated commuters who prefer to keep their head up without stretching the back or twisting the neck. These models are a revised take on popu-lar hybrid bicycles executed to the contemporary taste.
Stavanger and Sibbo models are the fastest models in the Pelago range. For fast-paced commuting or randonneuring, on paved roads or gravel. Off road or on cobbled streets, inner city or inter city — these are bicycles built for the purpose.

BROOKLYNThe Brooklyn bicycle is based on a classic design with a downsloping top tube. The riding position is comfortable and relaxed. Pelago Brooklyn is a robust yet light bicycle that is distinctive in its category due to fine detail and build quality. It is an attractive choice for the cyclist that values a simplified aesthetic, comfor-table riding and timeless quality. The bicycle is available in single speed, 3-speed and 8-speed models with either coaster brake or freewheel. Popular accessories include rear rack and front basket. Ask for LED light options.

BEHIND THE WHEELPelago Bicycles employs a good group of folks who keep the wheels true and the spirit rolling. It takes a dedicated crew to patch all the flats and pump the tires. Since the very beginning we’ve run our own shop and service that you’re more than welcome to visit. Our factory, warehouse and bureau are located next to the old shipyards in downtown Helsinki.
